mickyj63: RDO's I'm about to stick my my hand out at work .I'm upto 22 rdo hours we are not allowed to accure them .So I'm asking for 22 hours overtime seein they wont give me an RDO that I'm past having!!!

Teachers job no thanks .Me I work 6.30am to 3pm . these days after 8 hours(7.60 on the paypacket) I can walk out no OT is forced on me until stocktake week!!
Old days we had to do OT at least twice a week no way to get out of it . it was the norm funny how things have changed bosses got in trouble for giving us rosters with overtime on them .It appears they agreed not to do that in our EBA and then forgot !!
RDO's now thats different unless they wanna give you an RDO roster they wont do a thing !!!

I am not aloud to work my RDO’s “because of my foot but we have to work public holidays unless we are rostered off? The last one I worked they gave me time in-lieu? So I made them pay me out the week after! I am due more than six weeks annual leave and owed up too 25 sick days, so the last thing I wanted was time in lieu? We have another public holiday in two weeks, the queens birthday, postponed to include the royal show here in Perth, did I mention WA has an extra public holiday than the rest off Australia! Ten in total, so whose the backwoods state now?

Merriweather: My boss is a woman too... today I went to her office, something that I avoid like the plague, because I am totally scared of her..

I said...

" I dont have the tools to do my job"
she replied..
" all you need to do your job is a seat, desk and computer"

Errm... such a caring retort...
Sometimes I just want to walk out... and I came very close to it this morning...

When I started this job 2 years ago, I had to develop the 5-year Capital Works program based on previous work done by others reflecting all of the past future budgets and all the promises made over the last umpteen years. And then balance it against what we had to spend. Extremely frustrating 12 months work (and a few other tasks inbetween).

Never had to do something of this scale before, it was bloody hard but managed to get it done, with a bit of help from my manager and another manager. Okay, my manager has moved on (after he couldn't explain anything about how it was developed, how it worked, or what happened to all the things he told me I had to remove) and then it was handed over to the other manager to further develop.

Outcome is that the guy doing the further development has left and the other manager is lost. And asking me to work out what some projects are that were never in my original listsdoh

I see one of the biggest problems with organisations is poorly kept records and the lack of the proper tools or programs to do the job expected.

Workers are only as good as the tools that they have to work with.

It's not her gender that is the issue, it's the fact that her staff basically runs the business but she has the nerve to complain that she rarely gets a day to herself without having to do something involving the business??

Most stores such as ours are franchises and are owner-operated .. she rarely works more than two days a week, I do most of the accounts (whilst being top salesperson most months), the remainder of the back office stuff which has always been the domain of the store owner, is done at store level by salespeople.

She must be effin exhausted!! rolling on the floor laughing

I worked as a real estate salesperson for a while. Boss said that as the timing of my start meant I had missed the very start of the training program (1 week), I would have to wait until it started again.

After 6 months, boss and I had a chat about my "work attitude." Okay, I hated wearing a tie, I did not believe that you only showed the clients 3 options per visit (some reason behind that but I had no training so what would I know?), I would show them a few places and try and find out what they didn't like so that I could find something they wanted as against "just getting a sale".

So after the 6 months with getting more sales than the others (including the boss) combined, I quit. I may have a "work attitude" but at least I do try to give my employers the best I can.banana

If I owned a business, I would happily let others run it for me if they were making a profit! Who wants to go too work? If you could afford it wouldn’t you like to be the boss? She makes money when she is not at work! that’s everyone’s dream job! You should ask her how she managed too do it and copy!
