kizzy27: I was tending bar on the barbary coast in FNQ a man came up to me and said I have a knife, dont argue give me the till Dottie (59 & tough as nails )the propietor of "Dotties bar" reached under the bar and pulled out a waddie waddie club ( aborigional hunting club) and smacks the dude over the head in one fluid motion He just crumples people step over him to order their rum lol

No idea what I'd do if it was just me ..I was working the night shift front-end (the chick with the keys, gets change for the checkout operators etc) of a supermarket a few years back when a couple of guys in balaclavas came in the front door.
Having watched a few Hollywood movies in my time lol, I immediately dropped to the ground and hid behind some shelving.
No one was harmed and they took off with a few packs of smokes.
No security in those days but after a few of these episodes they employed a guard (like duh!).

OMG!! you poor thing are you ok now!! I think I would totally freek out as to how I would handle it I really don't know

When I was in retail I was told always give them what they want dont argue .
Said this at my present work 1 team leader called me stupid and he was pulled up and told off .Seems I was correct .Mind you at this place it would be pallet loads of sudafed !!
And yes they had a temp who was helping himself to the packets . long story but they supposedly bugged all our phones !!

First - snagsmoore, hope you have recovered from that awful experience? I am sure it is not something you can just 'forget about'??
What would I do?? Crap myself I think! Although I have found I have been in panic situations and I am usually the calm, rational, practical thinker?
Something just kicks in - tells me there is nothing to be gained by us all running around like headless chooks and do whatever I think is best.

So sorry to hear this... I imagine that you have been wary every since.. prolly suspect everyone for a while, until your confidence in human nature returns...
Yes, I have been held up too, years ago in a jewellers shop while the mates robbed the store... I left that place of employment, because I was just too suss of everyone who came in... and I realized it wasn't fair to have sus thoughts of everyone who came in..
After that, I was robbed so many times, always in jewellry stores, even on my last ever day, the day that I was supposed to be happy because I was quitting ( voluntarily) and the bosses ordered flowers, drinks etc... even on that day I was scammed... by two chicks... stole a ring under my nose... Damn, I was so cross I cried for ages...
So I guess that my advice is to see how you feel in a month's time, and if you dont feel safe... perhaps leave??
Good luck tho, and if you stay on, I hope it never happens again..
