Jem, you had such a success last season, are you planning to go bigger this year. ??

I am going to let pumpkins ramble around the garden, I have baby spinach coming up, and I will put in tomatoes and zucchini... I was turning all the soil in preparation last weekend... thumbs up

I had a lot of growth but in reality didnt get a lot of return, but the enjoyment I got made it worth while.

There is nothing like home grown pumpkins, and I am hoping to get some heritage pumpkin and squash seeds on ebay, the sort you cant buy in stores, so yummy

Also thinking of getting a small hydroponic setup to grow some tomato and lettuce and others in. At least I shouldnt have to keep them weeded laugh

Great , go for it... I planted tomotos the year before, and they were very sweet, just in crappy clay soil to be truthful... I love the taste of tomatos, but not when they are all watery... from the shop...

Good luck Jem... I will be looking out for your piccies... bouquet

When we (my ex and I) moved into our first house, 1/4 acre land, owner before grew vegies, we decided to grow some tomatoes, and made ourselves a compost heap. Great. Threw it around the tomatoes.

Couldn't understand where the pumpkins were coming from confused

Aaaaah yep, we had throw the pumpkin skins, seeds n all in the compost!! doh

Typical 'city farmers' or what?? Tomatoes were brilliant mind you thumbs up

they would be, and hopefully the pumpkins were too.

seeds ordered on ebay, Butter pumpkin, big golden yellow ones I had when I was a kid, some small squash and a couple of small melons that hopefully should ripen in Melbourne

now I just have to wait for them to arrive.

Oh and the rule of thumb for planting tomatoes... Jackie French swears by it.... if the ground is warm enough to sit comfortably on it with your bare bum .. it is warm enuff for the tomatoes to be planted...

I havent tried that method but it sounds like a good guide!
