I think each to their own in a relationship. I don't like to be bossed, yet I like to feel protected and cared for - I also know some very strong men in capable positions of power in the workforce that want to surrender to their woman at home.
Some men do like a woman on top - it is a great position of enjoyment.
On the other side - A friend from work once told me she believes in her marriage the "love, honor and OBEY" vows. She says she always obeys her husband. I nearly fell out of my chair when I heard that.

Not this one. My second wife was one who wanted full control over everything.
I couldn't make decisions without going through her first. I got into an auto accident and the other party was suing for $10,000. The lawyer for the insurance company called on a Fri night and needed a decision on proceeding as the court hearing was on the following Mon. She wasn't there and I had to make the decision. Well, she went ballistic when I told her about it.
When she went to work in the mornings, I had a list of things to do around the house if I were not out looking for work,
I have been in the manufacturing force for years and when those jobs disappeared, she tried pushing me into the school system. I took a bus drivers course knowing damn well I wouldn't get the cdl license because of heart disease and almost lost my regular drivers license over it.
My opinion meant nothing to her. She would take someone else's over mine.
Friends........I had none while with her. I was expected to drop someone as a friend because they were female. Her belief was that men and women could not be friends without being intimate. This woman and I had met in an online game, Ultima Online in early '98 and had never met in person. Despite the fact that she and I would never meet face to face, I was expected to drop her as a friend.
Trust was one sided and it killed our marriage.

I can't say what "men" want. That's too general and I can say I think generalizations should be avoided.
As to the OP most people probaly want those who compromise and accept others as they are without being controlling. From what I read on here in the threads many of us are remaining single because of the fear of having to deal with a controlling partner. I know after several years now of "freedom" I am not sure I can give that up no matter how non-controlling a man may be....

You are right.. people who are bossy are arrogant...With those kind of people...It's their way or the highway...If anyone tried to boss me I'd be off into the sunset.
