curly28: I know Alan Bond was a crook but in some ways I liked the guy he built the equestrian center in Perth and I have been to and entered many of wonderful horse events and good times & memories which a lot of folks in W.A still enjoy today On Ya! Alan. As for Osbservation City tower on Scarbrough Beach which he also built what can one say ugly piece of work and a waste of space and other peoples money.

Alan Bond also built a good university here on the Gold Coast. Bond University degrees are full fee (an education degree is about $150,000 and a medical degree is about $400,000). Bond is regarded to be among the best universities in the world.
The problem with Bond's purchase of Channel 9 was that he paid way too much for the business. There was no way that the business could service the debt incurred when Bond borrowed billions of buy it. Bond and his bean counters should have known that.

Trouble with Bond was that he cared for the people who did not have his opportunities. He was lucky as he was very street-smart and managed to come out on top for a long time. Hey, he even got the PM to declare his winning the America's Cup an unofficial public holiday. But the wheeling and dealing that he was told was the only way to succeed was his undoing.

Scase on the otherhand just bailed out with the loot instead of facing up to his responsibilities.very mad

Bond's back, braced to put some fresh runs on the board

ALAN Bond has returned to the nation's boardrooms for the first time since his multi-billion-dollar corporate empire collapsed two decades ago.

The disgraced tycoon, 74, who went to prison for Australia's biggest corporate fraud, is running two new companies and believed to be planning a series of investments across Australia.

Mr Bond is a director and shareholder in Strategic Asset Investments and Capital Asset Enterprises, both of which he registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission two months ago.

At least free-to-air television still has Cops and Operation Repo. Not quite the Jerry Springer Show, but both are full of freaks and trailer trash. rolling on the floor laughing

On considering these options, I am very happy to see sponsored ads on ABC and SBS channels.
