zmountainman: Is that not just loving someone, why use the word UNCONDITIONALLY if it doesn't mean you will stay no matter what.
Because some physical arrangements are untenable--I have a friend in the city that I love unconditionally. But he's not coming to live with me, guaranteed. Unconditional love does not mean taking whatever someone dishes out. Two different things there, pal.

You are mistaken about what unconditional means. One does not have to tolerate untenable situations to be said to love unconditionally. That is extremely ridiculous. We are not expected to just take whatever someone does. You need to read some literature about unconditional love.

yup, sometimes ya just have to love someone from a distance. loving someone unconditionally doesn't mean abandoning self love. or even self respect. i learned that from my family.

Unconditional love is love without limitations, and it is constant no matter what the circumstances. If you love only when someone is nice, but not when they are doing wrong, that is not unconditional love. That would be saying, "I'll love you when you're being nice, but forget my loving you at all when you do bad." How can you possibly call this unconditional love? I would much rather be with a woman who would love me unconditionally, even if I occasionally did something stupid, than to have someone who was "on again, off again" in loving me.

I agree with the occasionally doing something stupid part, we all do that. But when things happen again and again that are hurtful I think it's best just to love that person from afar and not have them be a part of your everyday life.
