If you want stress relief, lavender is supposed be a natural relaxant. Keep a few strands off a bush handy and gently crush the leaves and flowers to release the smell or get some essential oil (the proper one, not a fragrance) and put it on a handkerchief and smell it when you need it. Put it on your pillow before sleep. Mix it with a carrier oil and put some on your temples throughout the day, use it in massage or in the bath. Smells way better than alcohol too. Don't drink it though uh oh

rolling on the floor laughing hey, hair tonic isn't too bad, about as much as a bottle of beer, but has a great after bite as does mouthwash.
Drugs, of course are alcohol free...one could always 'have a toke and your troubles go up in smoke' as the old song goes...laugh

Better then drunkenness. But these programs seem like cults and their followers seem programmed.

Not at all. They talk about a 'God' of your own understanding. It will work with or without any religion. But I know where you're coming from. Many who use the program confuse it with catholocism. I'm sure that many here in Ireland, see it as an extension of the Catholic Church. It is not however. It's traditions forbid it.

The Serenity Prayer that people are expected to say at the meetings is what kept my husband away from meetings because he didn't believe in God. Alcoholics who believe in God get support from other AA members in addition to the Prayer.
