You speak too soon. Last time Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay. He lied. He never has closed it. He actually accelerated the war in Afghanistan, and between Obama and that witch Hillary Clinton, they are trying to get Americans guns away from them. They have actually taken it all the way to the United Nations, that conglomeration of One World Government idiots.
And right in Pakistan American drones are killing Pakistanis under the Obama "administration" (read that regime). How any Pakistani can stand Barack Obama is beyond my comprehension.

While I agree, I'll still take a wild stab and say that the alternative would have been much worse.

If only we didn't have a rep house. They will continue like before and block every attempt to make the country a better place for all. God forbid we could act like a "community."
I recall when Obama first came up with the national health care issue, my first thought was... no way, the insurance company lobbies, pharma lobbies, etc. ALL will band together to block that because they're afraid that if caps were imposed on prices, it would cut into their profits... and that can't happen. Ergo, we continue to pay 250 dollars for a top quality antibiotic, 160 dollars for anti-inflammation patches, etc. etc.
Something that perhaps the participants overseas don't know, but the wealthiest states in the country are democratic states.
Strange how the poor states where you have a few rich and a lot of poor are in republican controlled states.

You know what, Conrad.. in all honesty, the idea was great and still is great because health care should be an entitlement for everybody, imo, BUT realistically, it was a lost cause from the beginning. Everyone knew that by the time it passes through the various stages, things get added, deleted and by the time pharma and insurance, never mind the medical establishment got their paws on it, the final products is a totally different package than what it started out to be.
Ideally, a federal package could have eliminated medicare and medicaid and alleviated the financial pressure on the individual states, you know.
As it is, the uninsured clog up the emergency rooms, raking up huge costs for minor ailments, the hospitals roll the costs over and overcharge those with insurance or private patients and in the end, it all costs twice as much as a properly conceived national plan.
I am sure republicans know this as well, but why do they not want that for the people even though it would benefit all especially on the financial end?
