Blizzard14u: The boss rang me yesterday and requested I be back at base by 2.30pm for special training, he asked if I could make it in time? I answered I was extremely busy at the time and if I pushed it a little I would make it on time, the mate and I were at the shops looking at DVDs at the time, to try out in the new truck, as it has digital radio as well as a DVD player! Cool!
But at least I was honest?
You cant rush picking out a good DVD.

Just imagine if I had told him I finished my round two hours earlier and ordered pizza for lunch while perving on the birds at the shops! He would have been devastated!....watch out......i think i just saw your boss reading over your shoulder........haha

So the mate and I just scraped it in on time to do the training, after having a long lunch and walking around the shops, the boss was impressed, that we made that extra effort,

Blizzard14u: Not yet. But they are talking about it? They are thinking that if they use GPS any new driver would pick up the rounds by the GPS, but there are 20 drivers who all do the rounds differently? Just too make it interesting, we swap rounds each month, Once we leave the depot we are in charge off what we do, and there are 65 different rounds each week? Confusing isn’t it! We often get new drivers getting lost or disorientated on the 2way . The trucks aren’t, that reliable and often breakdown, so we are expected to do their rounds as well? On that day, so when we get a good day we make the most off it! wouldn’t you?
handshake what would the bosses do without workers like this?maybe lay-off some more staff and give themselves a pay-rise?laugh

snagsmoore: I can be brutally honest, especially when put on the spot with a question. No time to think about it, the truth just falls out of my mouth. Sometimes I hear myself talking and wish I would just shut up, lol.

Last year the boss ordered 4 new trucks due too arrive in April this year! One has not been seen two are un-driveable and the forth broke down before it left the first gate? This week as it arrived Monday, its due to go back today, for tender equipment that it is not carrying? Well at least the digital radio works!

The idea off the new bigger trucks is to reduce the number off trucks required in the fleet by increasing the workload off the current drivers? Which will increase the amount off breaks we take that we are allowed under the current driver fatigue laws? We are allowed a seven minute break every 45 minutes too prevent DVT, the new trucks are to be fitted with GPS, which means a lot off down time ahead! Maybe even letting the air out of the front wheel? A truck can still drive with one rear wheel flat but not a front tyre?

Either way more DVDs for the new trucks

You are wise already! But! It's a lifelong process : )
Knowing when to keep silent and listen is the key to unveiling the truth in any given situation.
