I'm a passive parent now that my children are adults.

Doesn't necessarily go with the territory, many people I know are constantly calling their offspring and expecting them to visit regularly and do various things for them at the drop of a hat, even though they have their own families and are holding down jobs.

Some parents are very demanding but that's not me.

I figure my children have their own lives to lead, we all love each other dearly but drop everything should one of us need urgent support, help etc.

Sorry, but I just have to...
my rant for the day:

At work the office area is open, and 8 desks.. all grouped together.

I can tell you.. those girls are so pestered by their mothers , the mobiles go off every two mins... and they all speak in a different language... not only that... but their mothers are bothering them at work, because the mothers dont speak english... but Jeez Louise, the mothers are totally inept... and much younger than myself..

Those poor girls are trying to work, and juggle home stuff too...

and apart from all of that... This mobile and constant chat is awfully off putting...

It drives me nuts on two accounts... that mothers tend to lean so much on their daughters ( but its their culture) and the constant yakking... conversing conversing sigh sigh

Hi Curly, I know screaming kids are just awful when out in shopping malls... I guess its to do with how tired they are, etc.. but If you are a worker, and have a free day or couple of hours, and you go out and have to listen to little jonny or susie screaming their lungs out.. suddenly the outing which seemed so appealing... loses its appeal really quickly..conversing

But as for dominating mothers... Crikey , I'd be turning the mobile off. ( not that I have one ) but no way that I'd be listening to family problems for ages whilst trying to focus on work...

And these are not short calls... these are long calls..

I often think... if anyone dare ask me to stop popping out for a smoke twice a day for 5 mins... I'd spit chips...

the mothers are probably lonely, in asia extended families live together and the women are seldom alone. Differences in culture is probably why

[quote= I know screaming kids are just awful when out in shopping malls... I guess its to do with how tired they are,

My kid was never normal? She never screamed at the shops! She never walked down the lolly isle and asked for lollies? But she did race around the shops pushing the trolleys into people! That was at 4, but she did clear the line at the checkout once? Dropped a darky in her nappy! Everyone was looking around then they looked at me with the kid in the trolley at 1, yes in a load voice its my one! And if there was a parenting room instead of a mothers room in this crap centre he nappy would be changed as soon as I pass the checkout! Instead off having to drive home before I can change her!

Soon after they introduced changing rooms!

Trend setter!
