It is psychotherapy and, yes, an intelligent and educated person is always fencing with their shrink.
I am always a couple of steps ahead of my psychiatrist when we have our monthly chats.

Severe depression, Kizzy . . . with perhaps a touch of PTSD.
Part of the package when one is a left-handed artistic-creative personality. That is why so many writers, actors and artists off themselves.

LiLee: Still have the memory of my infants school teacher whacking the kids hands with the ruler when they used their left hand.

Thankfully times have changed.

I missed a lot of wacking as I was taught to write right-handed.... just copped a lot because I couldn't cope with being able to write "neatly" right-handed.frustrated frustrated

And do so love having computers to be able to write so that people can read (even me) what I have written.rolling on the floor laughing banana

My mums left handed? And she is as crazy as! I think I had something too do with that?

I don’t need psychotherapy as you would have to be crazy to qualify, people that talk to themselves?

I have mutable personality disorder! I don’t have too talk to myself as its more off a group discussion!

There is a big difference between us. I am a detail-oriented perfectionist who is wound tight. I was that way before the army got hold of me, being that way by nature and raised by a psychotic navy petty officer. The army just improved on it a bit. laugh

my father Carl returned bruised and battered and as his eldest son i was taught to do as i was told. Which if analyzed clearly makes one about as silly as anyone can be. I now believe allowing others to tell you how and what your gunner do or think is just plain stupidity. Especially when they are people engaged in mass murder, as well as being thieves and lairs.
At the end of the day Carl, you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. If someone doesn't listen to well meaning advice and jumps of a cliff, its that persons problem not the person who gave the good advice. To over come depression we need to change our habitual way of perceiving reality, replace old thinking; with new ways of looking at life.

If we want more happiness in our lives, rather just thinking of self happiness, which actually just creates more suffering in our own mind, we need to take steps that develop more happiness.
The path that develops more happiness is developing ever more good motivation within our mind directed towards benefiting others.

Happiness is ones own responsibility, all the intellectual bla bla in the world cannot develop happiness for us, it comes from taking responsibility for ones own thinking process.
Whether the shrink or I or anyone else is more correct is a nonsense to. Its what steps each of us take to develop happiness in our lives that counts.

Well said robplum....but this is definately the less trodden pathway....allowing doctors to label us and others to define who we are is the norm. Happiness was not automatic to me and I could have made some better choices years ago but it was taking responsibility for myself and my own attitudes, purring appropriate boundaries in place because I needed to for my own sanity. Nowdays...I know that I deserve the best but it took years! A number of years ago I was diagnosed with severe anxiety and stopped going when thy started talking about PTSD. Today; against the odds they say.....I independa

thumbs up without mai diagnosis how would i know what i am dealing with?depression is severly missunderstood as it cannot be seen with the eyes, if you had a broken leg ppl would see it and realise something is wrong, if you have depression it is the only disease that effects everything about you as it effects your whole way of thinking, once it is named then you can start to see it for what it is and realize that it not me, it is deppression
