I just heard Bryce Courtenay has passed away. crying

I have 11 of his books and enjoyed them all. My favourite was Matthew Flinders Cat. I was also touched by his book about his son's battle with hemopilia.

RIP Bryce sad flower

I did enjoy Mathew Flinders' Cat, and all his other books. I did know a few people like that during the 70s when I worked in Sydney. It did bring back a few things I knew about the guys I met back then. Basically, you can't judge a book by its cover.

But could not get into reading April Fools Day about his son. The story is about his son contracting Aids through a necessary blood transfusion. It did highlight the neccessity of screening all donated blood.thumbs up thumbs up

Always had a thing about his books. And so did my mother. Every year, I would buy her the new hard cover one for Xmas each year (always seemed to hit the stores in Decemberfrustrated ).

Oddly enough, after she and my stepfather passed away, those books seemed to have disappeared. Mum had always said that all her books were for me when she had gone, knowing how much I love to read.

Seemed that her stepdaughter saw some value in first editions frustrated frustrated rather than people enjoying the books.frustrated frustrated
