AgentAjax: @Kaybee50“I no longer choose to be right I choose to be happy” Is wrong on so many levels. How can anyone be right but choose to be wrong so they can be happy? Would you be happy I certainly wouldn’t!
I choose to compromise but only with people in my immediate life , such as close friends and family, the rest can suck on my big toe and I don’t mean that in any negative way.
Good Morning Agent.
Maybe choosing to no longer be right doesn't mean choosing to be wrong. Perhaps it means to choose to no longer needing to have the last word; no longer needing to "win" an argument. I don't know, but I never felt good after an argument, even if I felt like I had the upper-hand. It feels better, to me, to uplift and yes, that does make me happy. Does it make me wrong my choosing not to have to be "right" all the time? No. It doesn't make me weak either.
Choosing instead to no longer seek others' constant approval has released me; freed me to explore myself and be true to myself; seek my own journey and follow the roads that are true for me; not try to shape and conform myself into what others think I should be.
Hi Kaybee, Thanks for this thread it' s been here for awhile but I just read through most of it now. The 15 things to give up to be happy are especially good. I am familiar with some of these ideals but it' s good to see them or be reminded. I can always learn something new. Have a good evening.

Post #16 is one of my favorites.
When I first started this thread in December 2012, I myself had cancer, but didn't yet know it. Irony.

I just went and looked at that video now. That' s touching, I wonder if he' s okay now? I hope you are okay too. We have had illness in our family, it can be pretty scary at times.

He had terminal cancer, the man in the video.
Me, I am ok and am due for my first year poke and prod-fest.

Glad to hear it. Not about the poke and prod, but that you are okay. Illness or life changing events have a tendency to make me revaluate what' s important.

Indeed, we tend to get caught up in things that just don't matter, myself included. I need a swift whack upside the head at times to shake me up and get me back on the right track.

Yea consistency is the real challenge I have found. Even after adopting new ideas and attitudes the mind instinctively wants to return to old ideas. Sometimes I like reading spiritual material to challenge the old thinking. Staying away from negative people is always good too, if that' s possible.
