We need to have a little ego or we wouldn't get out of bed in the morning. Self beleive is essential to take risks and give life a go. 
Consciousness can differ depending on the values we are taught.

Some may say we are born with a certain disposition to be good or evil.
Too much ego is soooooooo annoying.

have read some more and it say God is our Higher(self) Consciousness and Ego is our lower(self)consciousness..............so praying is merely speaking something into our higher self consciousness and ego holds us in our lower consciousnessConsciousness can differ depending on the values we are taught.
