It's time...actually, long overdue but it'll take a miracle and a genius to tame the monster. sigh

We cant tame a monster, a monster will always be evil. The monster is the person who commits a violent crime. Too bad people get upset with a execution of a convicted murderer, but they remain silence on the justice for the victim.

Oregongold- I am a proponent of the death penalty in certain circumstances but not all. When there is an individual that is a serious threat to society and will not be able to be rehabilitated, (such as sociopaths and child molester such as Jerry Sandusky) I understand that they should be removed from society. One of my problems with the death penalty is that the cost of running a system with the death penalty is far more significant than it is to confine a criminal for life. Lawyers use appeals to the death penalty to drum up money and it ends up costing millions more each year for a state despite the death penalty’s inconsistent use.

I give up! I’m not egocentric enough to believe that all people will think the same way I do. No matter how irrational they appear to be, I will never change their minds. Have a great day people.

need to enforce the Law on the Book now!
Useless to pile Law on top of Law,and not let it bite!
Thought there was a Law that puts a Criminal in Prison ten years, and Fines up to $250'000 if they commit a Crime involving a Firearm!
But I guess it's easier to lock up someone getting caught with some amount of Weed!doh

Increased attention to metal illness, diagnosing and treating it, community support, education, responsible gun control laws, a better economy, adequate parenting and classes on how to parent and socialize children, licensing of gun owners, punishments on criminals that are more strict in order to discourage crime, people that encourage others to get help or report people with mental issues when necessary. These are a few

Wow, that's really a bunch of good ideas. How do initiate and sustain them? Should we go trillions more in debt and make more laws that can't or won't be enforced?

Our gov can't or doesn't regulate and enforce laws meant to protect citizens. We should go back to making people responsible for their actions and.... IF you murder someone, by whatever means, you then forfeit your own.

Did you really think you were going to change someones mind?

When I comment, it's just my opinion. I never expect anyone to agree with me. If they do, then it's a good day in New Jersey.

Try thinking of threads as a way to debate your opinion instead of changing their minds. Such as I did in your other thread about animal shelters. Just an opinion.

Sorry but the criminal shouldn't be allowed the use of appeals over and over again. The criminal didn't give the victim a chance, so why should we. If a person commits a horrific crime, then let it be know that they themselves pay for their own appeals. Are murders etc really appealing? A friend of mine who was murdered on Dec 23, 1994, his killer only got 11 years. I would like to see all those who are against the death penalty pay up to keep the ones on death row alive, and not use tax money. I would rather use my tax money for the good, not for the bad.
