montemonte: Did you really think you were going to change someones mind?

When I comment, it's just my opinion. I never expect anyone to agree with me. If they do, then it's a good day in New Jersey.

Try thinking of threads as a way to debate your opinion instead of changing their minds. Such as I did in your other thread about animal shelters. Just an opinion.

I'm like you monte when I comment and it's only just my opinions.

I don't expect everyone to dote on my every word either. That's what makes us all unique.

It would be such a boring world if everyone always agreed with what someone else said.

galrads: Wow, that's really a bunch of good ideas. How do initiate and sustain them? Should we go trillions more in debt and make more laws that can't or won't be enforced?

Our gov can't or doesn't regulate and enforce laws meant to protect citizens. We should go back to making people responsible for their actions and.... IF you murder someone, by whatever means, you then forfeit your own.

Well, we could start by ending the useless war and avoid spending 180 trillion dollars over ten years on a war that could have been dealt with in a more intelligent manner. Besides, it would take trillions of dollars to complete these tasks and some of these would actually stimulate the economy..

First of all people forget there WAS an armed guard at Columbine during that mass shooting. He actually shot at the assailants and it did little to nothing to stop the carnage.

The UK and Canada are playing the same video games but they are not shooting each other up.

We should have guns but there are way too many. Our society has also become much more dysfunctional socially and it's much more violent. We've had dozens of mass shootings. Also if you murder with a gun, Many young people get out in 20-25 years. It should be life or the death penalty.

I saw the latest statistics and 89/100 people have guns in the u.s. Next is Serbia at 54/100 people.

Between 18-25 years of age, 25% of that population has an STD. We have a larger single motherhood rate than any other first world country.

8600 gun murders last year; UK had 51.

The latest statistics show more than half of the men in relationships cheat on their spouse. For dating that is much higher. Almost half of the women in relationships cheat. Those are conservative #;s

you cant' fix a problem unless you admit it. We won't admit anything because we are too ignorant and arrogant.

Our country is the most violent first world country in history and we are in the moral gutter with little to no character to get us out of it.

Oregongold: Sorry but the criminal shouldn't be allowed the use of appeals over and over again. The criminal didn't give the victim a chance, so why should we. If a person commits a horrific crime, then let it be know that they themselves pay for their own appeals. Are murders etc really appealing? A friend of mine who was murdered on Dec 23, 1994, his killer only got 11 years. I would like to see all those who are against the death penalty pay up to keep the ones on death row alive, and not use tax money. I would rather use my tax money for the good, not for the bad.

Criminals shouldn't be allowed to appeal countless time but that is the way it works until it changes. Until it changes, it will cost more to have the death penalty. Reducing appeals to zero will also cause people who are actually innocent to never procure their freedom. I believe that one appeal and possibly 2 should be allowed by there needs to be a limit and a time frame as well as a cap on the lawer fees. To accomplish this they could use federal state or federal attourneys

Flashback: Clinton Requests $60 Million to Put Cops in Schools

Today, the same elite media who no doubt send their own kids to private schools that employ armed security, just can't stop howling ridicule at the NRA's idea to give every student in America those same protections. Because the NRA's idea is so appealing, as I write this, the media's going overboard, mocking it as bizarre, crazy, and out of touch.

This is how the media works to silence and vilify the opposition and to ensure that only their ideas control The Narrative. The media doesn't care about securing our schools; they only care about coming after our guns and handing Obama another political win.

The media also doesn’t care how wildly hypocritical they look.

In their zeal to rampage this left-wing agenda, the media has apparently forgotten that back in 2000, on the one-year anniversary of the Columbine shooting (which occurred with an assault weapons ban in place), President Clinton requested $60 million in federal money to fund a fifth round of funding for a program called "COPS in School," a program that does exactly what the NRA is proposing and the media is currently in overdrive mocking:

Clinton also unveiled the $60-million fifth round of funding for "COPS in School," a Justice Department program that helps pay the costs of placing police officers in schools to help make them safer for students and teachers. The money will be used to provide 452 officers in schools in more than 220 communities.

"Already, it has placed 2,200 officers in more than 1,000 communities across our nation, where they are heightening school safety as well as coaching sports and acting as mentors and mediators for kids in need," Clinton said.

The media is not only so driven to ensure Sandy Hook is used to win this round on gun control that they've become morally blinded to what really needs to be done to immediately secure our schools; they've lost their grip historically and politically.

Think about it: The media is entering a new year attempting to convince parents that their children will be less safe with a policeman in their school.

Off the rails doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Exactly, what is "THE" problem, as you perceive?

Btw, while paying my own way through college, back in the seventies, in California. I had employment with pinkertons security services for a short while. One of my post included being armed .... As a deferent. For minimum wage, I don't think anyone expects more out of you. So, what are the armed guards in private schools paid?

A friend of mine who's on FB and resides in Michigan told me that they have what they call a Pal Program.

A group of police officers are assigned to particular areas in her community and are also embedded within each individual Grade through High School building in her town. They've gone as far as installing cameras in the hallwys of said schools.

Cameras can be very useful to know when an armed person goes into a school, or a bank. But, what can do someone to stop the armed person?

Just what I think. An armed person, and if they know martial arts, much better.

I answered that in a earlier post. The armed guard was in the parking lot in a patrol car. He and another engaged....actually fired rounds at the two attackers. That altered thier plan and likely kept them from setting off the bombs that they had brought to the school.

Thus saving lives.

rizlared: Where will all this stupidity end? Arm the school teachers/prefects/monitors, lets give a Glock to every 5 year old!!! How about a Berreta with every happy meal at McD's???

America is a wonderful country, I never felt frightened or even worried while I lived there, but this passion for owning powerful weapons is getting completely out of control.
Americans need to grow up, realise that the world has moved on since the constitution was written, you have the most powerful military in the world, you are one of the most powerful countries in the world, yet time after time, you act like spoilt children, who need a smack on the bum and sent to bed with no supper.
Those that disagree with my opinion are welcome to comment, but please, don't shoot me!!!!

Bill Clinton wanted $60 million to put armed cops in the schools and the Dims loved it, now the Dims do an about face? Talk about being 2 faced hypocrites!!
