Well the Tugun Tavern did not tick any of my boxes, apart from cleanliness of the women' restroom. I was there for easily 2 hours and the empty flavoured milk bottle stayed in its place the entire time. I did not get a friendly, uninitiated word from any of its employees in the whole time either. There was no joviality or laughter that you would expect to hear at the bar between patron and employee. Never before have I encountered a more unwelcoming tavern on the Gold Coast. Think I might have been in the Tugun Tavern once years ago?
I live at the other end of the GC, near the theme parks. My local is the Bowling Club which is the best on the coast, is modern, a great venue for shows and the staff are friendly.
Especially if you are a member and errrm visit enough times to become a familiar face?
I find a lot of places are impersonal so it is good when you find somewhere that staff remember you and show an interest??

I used to be a regular at a few places, this one time the mate and I walked in the barmaid was talking to a few guy on the corner of the bar next to where the mate and I always sat, so we sat down on the stools and she turned to say Good day, that’s when I said I a loud voice that I had something in my pants for her! She smiled and laughed and these guy nearly fell of their chairs! I then produced three sets off ear plugs for her as her boyfriend snores real loud apparently?
