China scrambled two J-10 fighters on Thursday over the East China Sea after two Japanese F-15s followed a Chinese military plane "on routine patrol", the Chinese Defence Ministry said in a statement on its website.

Given most of the modem industry in China developed over recent years was set up by Japanese companies, the above is very likely to get really nasty.

It wouldn't surprise me if china ends up buying most of the gold fields in Australia. Chinese companies are reported to be buying lots of them.

Liberal and labor party flunkies will boot lick as fast as there tongues can lick while begging for influence and wealth no matter what sort of government we have. Or am i to believe Labor is standing up for the workers and will ensure every worker gets paid the customary $150 an hour the peoples elected repetitiveness currently receive. And Liberal will start wearing red shirts if China tells them to.

FULLERTON: That's not the suggestion. The suggestion is that decisions about Chinese investment might be more political than rigorous.

EMERSON: The decisions are not made by me. They're not made by me. They're not made by me. They're not made by me.

FULLERTON: No, it will be made by the Treasurer, Wayne Swan.

EMERSON: Well, I would have thought the Western Australian Government might be involved in this.

FULLERTON: Indeed, yes.

EMERSON: When this was conceived, I had no design about Ord River projects or anything like that.

FULLERTON: Can I ask you one last question…

EMERSON: Sure.

FULLERTON: … in particular about Zhongfu, who is a bidder in this tender: how much does the Government know about Zhongfu and its ownership?

A report from the Beijing-based Caixin news service reports that, at the recent China Mining Conference in Tianjin, conversations kept turning towards one subject - the quest for goldmines overseas.

The article pointed to recent developments such as Zijin Mining gaining control of Norton Gold Fields (NGF) and a statement by the Chinese company's vice-chairman that Zijin plans to outlay $US5 billion ($4.8bn) over the next three to five years to buy gold assets overseas.

Zijin already controls goldmines in Russia, Mongolia and Tajikistan as well as Australia.

China reconstructed the decrepit docks in Pireaus Greece at no cost to the Greek Govt, except they get to collect all dock fees for the next umpteen years.

China has developed the mines in the Congo and guaranteed that 80% of the workers will be locals. They also built the roads and port facilties as part of the deal and get to control the docks. When you consider how cheap the local labour is (the only real employment is in the Govt, the army or rebel army), the cost of the local workers will be overall much less than for all of the Chinese in charge.

While they may not be looking to take over everything, it is still worth looking closely at what it will mean to a country with such massive investment being involved. Always a catch.

China is offering Pakistan a squadron of J-10B, the advanced multi-role, all-weather fighter aircraft. The official offer was presented to the Pakistan Army’s Chief of General Staff, Lt Gen Waheed Arshad, during a week long visit to Beijing. If such delivery takes place, Pakistan will be the first country, after China, to operate the J-10B, considered as one of China’s most advanced, operational combat aircraft.

You know Rob the average chinese person are human beings like us and are very nice people with feelings too and do you think other western countries around the world aren't doing same thing regarding war fare. Lets see who can build the biggest and most powerful combat aircraft this world of ours is far from peaceful sad flower

People are setting fire to themselves in Tibet it has now become an almost daily occurrence, a dire form of protest against what many in the autonomous territory call an oppressive Chinese influence.

Chinese government have been engaging in mass murder, an awful suppression of the Tibetan people as China is attempting to claim Tibet as part of China, when it never has been, even though i understand many people in Australia promote and believe the lairs been told by China, Tibet has never been part of China and Tibetan don't want them in there country.

Over one hundred Tibetans have set themselves alight protesting which i think is in the main because they no longer have access to Tibetan Buddhism, Buddhist building in Tibet are being turned into Disney Land like tourist crap.

Lots of us went to Vietnam in an attempt to contain the communist pricks but it turned wasn't the reason at all, instead was an attempt to impose Catholic teaching over the mainly Mahayana Vietnamese

Nope, Catholics (under the French rule) had been there for ages. The French were not popular there (and a few other places as well). Bit like the Spanish and the Phillipines.

Although the Dutch in Indonesia had an uphill battle with the large Muslim population. Although they didn't try to convert them, being Christians did not help them get back into the country to re-establish the businesses they had developed over 100s of years. Unfortunately, the Muslims took over all of the businesses and then imposed their religion on anyone who wanted to make a go of it. And this led to the Timor problem.

The French Foreign Legion were not able to physically support the corrupt South Vitenam Govt. But this was in the McCarthy era when so many people were ruined because they had sympathies with the way so many indigineous people were treated in so many countries. So the good old USA decided they had to stop the spread of communism whatever way they could.

And Vitenam was not good for anyone. Even the Chinese Govt did not support the way it was done. It was the Russians who financed and trained the Viet Cong.
