Afar as the eye can see
i am standing alone by the sea
waiting for the guest to be
to stand next to me

Alone i feel standing here
looking down into the abyss
for you have been gone years
snatched away from me

Clouds race by and as far as i can see
the waves coming in are laughing at me
glancing around what do i see
you have always been here with me

Never will i be alone
with you standing next to me
for memories of you
will always be cherished by me

Wait for me at heavens gates
and always have that smile on your face
i am no longer alone
now that your with me

( this is a rough draft of a poem im not finished with i will be attempting at redoing some of it as i have started to compile poems to keep and discard to form a portfolio of what i wrote....so ive not placed mechanics into it and also please share your views negative or not)

It sounds like you were standing on the cliff at the edge of the Universe.

its what ive also placed in the poem the person feels hes at the edge of his existence (edge of the universe) its what ive tried to place so when people know of a loved one they lost at first they feel empty but when they relive the momments they have while they look down into precieved nothingness they find that its no longer lonely as the memory of the loved one can be as strong as the physical form

Yeah, I get that. It's also the place people find themselves when they are about to die. Absoloute loneliness. Panic attack loneliness. They are crying out, "don't leave me alone" to their worst enemy. But we all have to stand there alone at some time. I think of that feeling as the loneliness of the world and once you centre your mind/consciousness outside the world/in the next world/whatever you personally call it, this loneliness is gone in an instant. The world has an emotional pollution that goes with existence in it. The trick is to see that for what it is an not believe it is in fact part of ourselves.

Jaysis, I'm giving myself a headache again. laugh

It's very evocative, Scarwolve...the "Clouds race by" bit made me think of time passing very quickly. I have to admit there is often something very existential about looking out to sea also for me, so I get where the poem is coming from and don't we all have someone we lost who we miss and would like to feel was near us again.

thumbs up
