No time for people that lie and cheat. He got his pay back though, he got cancer,

I never wish bad things to happen to people that do wrong by me as I know the universe will deal with them in time.

After denying it for so many years, his "team-mates" finally admitted that it was happening.

So good to see that the administration is doing something about it.

Australia had a very strong contender for the Pentathlon years ago in the Olympics. Peter Hatfield (Aussie) was a very dedicated athlete who spent many years competing on the world playing field. His training partner, Daly Thompson, just always pipped him on the post for so many years.

After they both retired, it came out that Thompson had been on drugs throughout his career. But he still kept all his Olympic and World Championship medals.

The cycling world body has most likely done the bravest thing they could do by naming what they had called "the best cyclist in the world ever" as a cheat.

Great to see them admitting that they had made this mistake because he had cheated.cheering cheering cheering

Time for more groups to speak up.

People that lie and cheat usually get their come uppence sooner or later. And a big NO, we do not mean them ill-well.

The thing with cycling is when they take his medals off him they are going to have to look long and hard to find someone that hasn’t been caught for drugs to send the medals too!

Its like that Aussie Olympic speed skater that won a gold medal because all the other guys fell down?
confused professor cheers doh

This was one guy that was doing the best that he could. Just because the other guys didn't finish................

Like any sport, you may be out in front most of the time but who (most times) crosses the finsih line first counts.

The Aussie men's hockey team has been acknowledged as being the best in the world for the last 50 years but has rarely taken out the premier events.

I find it amazing that so many people are upset . I'm not condoning what he did he did what everyone else (supposedly ) was doing . If the cycling officals covered it up then they should go to jail or something !!
And it was said on Adelaide radio today that when he said he wasnt taking drugs was over 7 yrs ago so he can not be charged with lying under oath!! Plus the SA govt wanting his appearnce money back hmmm politicians daring to be upset by a person not telling the truth.Pot calling the kettle black imho.

Lets face it cycling has been corrupt since the early 1900's this was well documented in australia. So taking perfromance enhancing drugs in the late 20century early 21st century or being paid to fix races in the early part of the 20th century !! Nothing seems to change in cycling hey

It is no defence to say "Well everybody was doing it?"

The reality is that he has been asked many times and has repeatedly, bare facedly denied that he was taking any performance enhancing drugs??

I feel sorry for the people who looked up to him, idolised him, put him on a pedestal, especially those involved in his charity. Yes, he did good work there but it is now all tarnished?

And yes, there are some officials I don't know who they are, his team management, American Cycling Officials, his personal doctor, medical staff would have known about or facilited him to do what he did - they too should get their just desserts and hopefully will?

And lying under oath, in a court, is a crime - most politicians are smart enough not to do that.

Guess that old time pro Wrestler sums it up well when he said "its only cheating when you get caught "

My great-grandfather was one of the top cyclists riding out of Albury, NSW. He was accused of cheating once. He raced the train from Melbourne to Wodonga, and beat it by a reasonable bit. It was claimed by a fellow another cyclist that he had actually caught the train most of the way and only rode from the last train stop before Wodonga. System then was that telegrams were sent from spots along the way. Okay, he left Melbourne at the same time but managed to send telegrams before the train had arrived at each of those spots along the way.

Seemed that there was a fair bit of animosity between the 2 from the newspaper articles I have seen but never a mention of 'performance enhancing' drugs. The main thrust of all of the accusations was that he (and a few others) "rode too fast."rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

So Lance has made $100m, $150m depending on who you listen to? So why doesn't he just take his money and go away if that is what it was all about?

Why does he want his life ban lifted? Surely his best years are behind him, there is no way he can or should compete in the Tour de France or similar comps??

So maybe he wants a life after cycling as a 'celebrity' or trainer or whatever well too bad as far as I am concerned he did wrong, let a lot of people down, harrassed and bullied people, sued people who are now vindicated?

He doesn't deserve a second chance for me. He has shown no remorse, no real concept of the consequences of his actions - it is all about ME!

Just the simple fact that he appeared on a chat show to do his 'tell all' interview speaks volumes. Why did he not do a press conference with the Cycling Federation or such like?

Its interesting you mention money newie
I heard on Adelaide radio today before lance was in the tour down under .It made 17 million dollars in profit now to you and me thats a hell of a lot of money .
Now when Lance was paid to appear and since he appeared it makes 45 million a year !!!
And some weird independant politician is demanding the state govt get the appearnce money back ! Why he was paid to appear and he did what the then premier wanted done put Adelaide on the map .

You think im joking I was fishing the Patawolunga lake this morning .Must have been like 5000 middle age men and others in lycra riding all around the suburb of gelnelg !! How much extra money is being brought into this state due to lance !!

May mean nothing to rich states like NSW QLD VIC WA .But hells bells since Lance came here so many people in lycra rding bikes eating in cafes .
Hell he may be a cheat but it hasnt stopped the people getting in and spending money here !!

i don't ......even though i thought he had been doing it for years,...sooooo many looked up to him, and finally ....they see the light...irrelevant of how long cycling has been corrupt in one way or another, he was the top dog, he denied it through his teeth, and then sent lawsuits against better people...winning at all costs has its payback.......feel the burn
