do you throw these in the bin as they arrive?

would you like to cancel delivery and save a few trees and all the energy used in making them?

from this year you can cancel delivery

I think if people want them they should be able to collect them from local post office or places like that a huge amount of the population do not need them anymore as we can look up on the net most companys etc! I don't use them any more. I do throw them in the recycle bin.

yep I agree Curly, for people that dont have net etc they can be very useful, but really when you have net access they are just dust catchers and doorstops.

Mine always go in the recycle bin as well

Some people might want them delivered to the door, like the oldies, anyone who doesn't have a car - and does weightlifting laugh - or those who don't have internet access thumbs up

That's one of my pet gripes at the moment - how a lot of companies assume that you have a) a computer and b) unlimited download capacity?

Whenever I can, probably cos of my job I always point out, "So what about the people who don't have a PC at home, don't know how to use one, are too old maybe, have health problems that mean they can't operate a PC - how will they be able to find this information/fill out the application etc??" dunno

I hope a lot of companies come to their senses and realise that for some people 'just log on to our website' will never happen?? comfort

No I don’t use them that much! But they are an option rather then being steered into someone else’s profit margin! The trees used are grown for that purpose, to make paper! Yes here in the west we have tree farms! But I must add that all hardwood trees that take a long time to grow have been banned from going into manufacturing!! People still have jobs in this industry! To grow trees and make paper! The same with making plastic bags! People have their jobs on the line, personally I would like the return off the brown paper bag!

Just how green do we get before know one has a job?

Blizz I work in a part of the printing industry, and if the companies want to survive they find different products to make and sell, or if they dont they go belly up. If they cant diversify they were never going to survive with or with printing the books.

Where I grew up good productive farming land has been taken over for pine plantations grown for pulp, there are also hardwood plantations grown in the area for pulp as well. Companies are finding smarter ways to use the pulp, combining with recycled materials etc.

Just think of the amount of electricity that goes into making the paper for those books that just get thrown in the bin.

eventually we all pay for this waste, in telecommunication bills, and the cost of recycling something that wasnt needed or wanted in the first place.

If you want the books now you have a choice, for those of us who dont want them we will no longer have to worry about them

Hey Jem,

Thanks for the link, now I need to cancel the local directory which is just a duplicate telephone directory that rips off business for the sake of advertising dunno
Then there is all the reports that I have to do at work and then print them in duplicate....whats the point of computers and backup files typing

What a great idea. Thanks Jem.

Can land-lines and go mobile:

Updated 10 January 2013: The top three Australian carriers are spending billions upgrading their networks to high-speed 4G LTE services. Customers are just starting to see the new plans and rollout is expected to intensify through the year and well into 2013.
