I have friends dying left, right and centre, mostly of cancer. Is this all we have left to look forward to?

Sorry to hear that Freo.. sad flower

Cheer up hun... This is not all we have left to look forward to...

Now lets see...

We need to work to almost 66yrs
We need to save and or gather super
We need to explore the world ( rather than save)
We need to replace most of the goods we own, especially white goods as they ar not made to last..

But more than that... we need to live long to reflect on our peace within...

And Ultimately... we need to live and be an example to our grandchildren.. teddybear

but so many from cancer? Had another today, close workmate, only two months ago she was working with us as per normal, one visit to the Doctor, then straight into hospital, and today... gone! Even my own son has been fighting Lymphoma for the past two years and he is only 27.

Time can be trying! But you had a good 25 years with your son before he go sick! And he is not dead yet! They are finding cures everyday, never loose hope! Tell your son that you expect him to get better so he hopefully wont have to live what you have gone through for the last few years! When he turns 50!

I don’t think there is anyone left these days that doesn’t know someone who died from cancer and same goes fro motor related deaths, suicides or drug overdose. Let’s be realistic though, more people survive cancer, car crashes, attempted suicides and drug overdose then succumb to death from any of those.

We live faster now and everything needs too be done yesterday?

People just need the time too sit back and reflect?

Too think what really matters in life?

Your health first, so you can be there for others!

Then family, especially kids,

Think about it?
We run around trying to save time, to do the things we want to do,

But all we need to do is step back and think about what is more important to us!

When the kid had the car crash last month, I drove straight back to the depot, called the boss on the way that I was leaving work! Had to talk to the manager quickly, but I was on my way ASAP!

I can get a new job! I can buy a new house! But the kid is irreplaceable!

life is like the flame of a candle blown in a breeze.

Its not necessarily so that most people will live a long life, older insurance stats suggested only 3 or 4 out of 100 will make it to 65, most die before 25. They got people figuring out average life spans etc and there life premiums are based on those. And yes it appears average life spans have increased over recent years.

Death is certain, when is set by the amount of merit person has for human experience, there is no way of telling when death time will arrive, unless of course your being murdered by doctors knocking you off as they did with my father, there is no way of telling.
Some believe dying is (or can be) a really beneficial time if the mind is correctly focused.
I think what there is best to do with whatever time is left, is figure out what that really means

It's funny (as in perculiar) isn't it how our mind re-asseses whats important after we hit middle age.

Every stage of life seems to bring about different realities or realisations.

I spent the first half of my life striving to get somewhere, raising kids, building a life for myself.

Then middle age hits and I wonder where the hell somewhere is and my kids have flown the nest to begin their own journey. I am proud of them and the job i did of raising them but being a mum is no longer the main reason for my existance.

Now I see my parents getting older and my mum diagonsed with lung cancer. Suddenly my priorties have changed. Getting somewhere (that doesn't exist) seems less important than spending time with family and friends. The realisation that our time is short develops and i take less for granted.

A friend said to me, we think our elderly parents become lonely and sad that they can no longer get out and experience life. But that is our perception. He father told her as he gets older he doesn't want to travel and rush about, he's very content to sit back and watch the world go by, comfortable in his immediate surroundings.

I wonder if the human brain prepares us to deal with whatever stage we are at or whatever circumstances we face be that death or illness or old age.

One thing I am learning is happiness is a state of mind which I have control over. If I am grateful for where I am and for those i have around me, I feel happy. I am less and less striving to get somewhere and more and more content to be where I am.

I'm sorry to hear about your friends freo sigh hug

As we get older, I think we become more aware of our mortality and that of our friends and loved ones.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming, and even frightening, especially when it seems that every time you turn around, someone has popped off and you're attending another funeral.

Try to be kind to yourself and realise that what you're feeling is perfectly natural, it is sad, but it also highlights the fact that we must make the most of our lives, do what we want to do as soon as we can and not put those things off, for our own sakes and those who love us flower
