CaptainCrunch: I have always wanted to go to Ireland. Can anyone make any suggestions as to where to start and which time of year is best. Thanks, Rick
I have friends from New York in Dublin now, and that's where I'd go, in summer.

Come to Dublin in June or July because in Ireland we have 10 months of Winter and 2 months of bad weather. You are always welcome.
Hi, a good month for travelling is May IMO, if you're lucky, it can be a dry month (never guaranteed) and it's not main travelling time. Best way of getting around is hiring a car and driving along the coast, Dublin, Kilkenny, Cork (nice little villages at the sea), County Kerry, Galway city and county. If you have time, you can venture up to Donegal and Northern Ireland, or you swing back from Galway by Limerick, Lough Derg (Shannon lakes) to Dublin. Hope you'll have a great time, it's a beautiful country for a holiday.

Good luck with that! Still packed I am,...and still sitting on the tarmack 60 yards north of the fuel cache by some desolate airstrip 647 km NW of Yellowkife,....but knowing those Irish gals are oh so pretty! And that Twin Otter is ever,...ever so close,.....okay,...maybe its just the wind I hear,.....

Oh, you're in an even lovlier part of the country than I am today.
It's only 20 below with a 50 km/h wind, not so bad for Edmonton in January. I managed to get my old diesel fired up and on the driveway, so i shouldn't complain.
Still, I get the feeling Ireland would be warm and inviting at this time of year.
Don't visit Ireland July+August, visit IOS island Greece, you'll find most of the Irish on vacation here.- Thanks, Chris.

Odd thing, I just mentioned that to someone today. I can't ay I've ever hated anything in my entire life, but I have developed a HATE for winter on the prairies.
Ypu spelled it right, considering your fingers are likely frozen.
