NCT Question (19)
Yeah I've seen this under body wash requirement on the paper work but have never done it and just brought the car to the NCT,guys never said anything about it...

My old car is due NCT now at minute, up here I was told/lead to believe that you have to do an underbody wash before taking car for NCT. I was told that this only happens in Donegal as anywhere else in Ireland you just take car as it is.
So just wondering is some places in Donegal just out to make money by telling you that you have to wash underneath the car for test?

yeah , i've heard alot of people doing that undercar wash thing before nct here in the county ! i thought everyone had to do it ??
oh, and another wee tip Annie ,
a friend of mine failed hers a few weeks ago --a few small issues, but they also pointed out that the seatbelt buckles on the back seat weren't visible enough .
I was told I had to do it last time and it costs around €30/40 to get done on top of the bloody fee for NCT. This time I'm sending it as it is

You will get it cleaned for half the price in Derry, it is compulsory in Derry, should be compulsory as it shows up safety concerns. Lots of places do it.

I think you are being had.
The underside has to be clean enough for the inspection so that they can see any faults, unless you have been doing some serious offroading, rallying or driving through farm yards then I wouldn't be concerned about washing the undersidee of your car.

I agree with Marsman on this, I got my NCT done a couple months back and asked the guys that were washing my car to give the underbody a quick spray while washing it..there was no problems Annie..hope that helps...

I'm doing nothing to see what it fails on, trying to sell it as I now own 2 cars
