Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia thinks that black people should not be allowed to vote ( Archived) (88)

Apr 11, 2014 8:20 AM CST Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia thinks that black people should not be allowed to vote
The high court debated Tuesday whether voters can ban affirmative action programs through a referendum. The case is centered around a 2006 Michigan vote that approved a ballot initiative amending the state's constitution to ban affirmative action programs in higher education.

Scalia has brought race into previous arguments. In February 2013, Scalia suggested that the continuation of Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act represented the "perpetuation of racial entitlement," saying that lawmakers had only voted to renew the act in 2006 because there wasn't anything to be gained politically from voting against it.

Conrad73: Gonna be real fun watching you WannaBees bungle and Buck-Up things!

You silly old goat deriding your own side(ish)because of your dated misconceptions.

'Welcome, then, to yet another element of the New Normal, and a sobering fact: when it comes to questions about the welfare state, work and the like, the younger you are, the more rightwing you're likely to be.'

'Middle-class voters 'more leftwing' than the working-class'(this holds true even when you include benefit scrounging/criminal underclass as the working class(as bourgeoisie Marxists, and therefore the Guardian, does).

It's the boomers in the suburbs that are your Marxist scumbags.

The young and the working class are more commonsensical than the old and the sub-elites. The youth of today are not the freeloading/makework hippy youth of yesteryear(most of us don't even know what a trade union is). And add to this that everybody with a brain becomes more rightwing with age, then what do you have if today's 20 year olds are already more rightwing than the greying debt-lovers? A chance, that's what.

Throw away your out-of-touch ways of thinking and please try to live in the world of 2014. In the past being young meant being a naive lefty idealist, and being poor meant voting for more state. Not anymore. It's the wealthier that are statist and the elderley that are the idealistic moralisers.

Another reason for the superiority of millennials over boomers is that 100 White liberal boomer adults produce 147 offspring but 100 White conservative boomer adults produce 208 offspring.

Because liberals tend to be reproductive failures(nature knows best), this surely raises the genetic fitness of the coming generation. This innate genetic superiority may be enough(we hope)to overcome the severe economic and environmental disadvantages the young of today now face.

RayfromUSA: No I was being sarcastic.

I had 5 acres once but now I don't own any land.

But if only landowners could vote it would be feudalism all over again.

I do hae a few pots with herbs (all legal), would that count???

laugh
RayfromUSA: Not that I think voting is legitimate anyway.

Or of any use to the person voting.

uncertain

An observation: It all begins to feel as if I'm re-reading the novel "V For Vendetta"...mixed with A Clockwork Orange...all rather depressing outlooks for a supposed coming 'enlightenment' from the so called Boomer legacy. Misfits will remain misfits in any pantheon of New Gods; human nature will not evolve but it will surely devolve. That cannot be stopped by any legislation or circumstance. Should you survive the coming attraction of a new war soon to be playing in your own backyard, perhaps the world of "V" may seem that your generation was once at Heaven's Gate but it was locked with just the proverbial hand scratched note saying something like 'Out to lunch'...or perhaps 'closed for repairs'...but only if any of you survive. War always remains the 'great equalizer'; it reduces everyone to the levels of savages and then just bones. Yours will be just another empire of bones. You will succeed in becoming exactly like those whom you despise. Not a good end.
