Hi Jappy, You are probably in one of the best parts of Sydney for things to do. I have lived in Melb for nearly 11 years now and really haven't seen anywhere as good for what it offers just close by, let alone a short train or ferry ride into the City. My daughter lived there for a number of years and loved it.
We stayed there last March when my son got married. And she had to show it off to her husband. We were surprised at how much it had changed, even better than when we had left (different years and also different social circles). And son-in-law commented on how cosmopolitan (what he described, not in his vocabulary) it is. He is used to the "enclaves" around Melb, much like Sydney is except for Parramatta.
You have Parra RSL Club, Parra Leagues Club and PJ Gallaghers as the top 3 places to meet people.
