I like this quote:

"Fear is not real, it is a product of thoughts you create.
Do not misunderstand me, danger is very real, but fear is a choice."

perhaps like pain, if you mindfully go right into the pain it goes away

if the fear you are experiencing is a phobia the adrenaline rush you get when you conquer it is amazing.
I suppose that backs the quote as you are choosing to ignore your fear and conquer it

driving around Saigon i developed an instinct for danger before getting close to it
i recall a nz army medics up in bong son, taking me for a drive along a road passing some yanks mine sweeping, on past them and for quite some distant's until entering a village and i said something is wrong, without any delay he u-turned. I thought after he was just testing to see how far i would let him go.
NZ Defence Force Medical Team were patching up civilians, they were not treating our soldiers, rather were without any questions patching up civilians including V.C. the latter was there insurance, cause other than a handful of Vietnamese soldiers, they lived in compounds amongst Vietnamese in what was a very active region

I was about 12/13 and I was out wandering around down the back near the swamp when a bullet went whizzing passed my head. I was scared shirtless.......think it was an out-of-body experience until I got home and my clothes caught up with me.

Glad I never had to experience it when someone was really trying to kill me.

Mijas, just to say, Robp has been entertaining us all now for quite some time... he shares his farm life, his experiences, and his photos.. all of which we find interesting,

The fact that he does not place his words in a sentence the way you feel he aught is irrevalent... His pics and experiences carry more weight, and guess what... we seem to understand without nit picking.. so

We is collectively those regulars who post here..

and for you... go jump in the lake mate... cool ya self down, and come back and be ordinary...

stuck up toffs we dont need !!!!!!!nerd

I agree…
If I repeatedly experience a car passing my location tooting its horn, I could impute he/she is a pain in the “a”, that’s a lovely sound, someone likes me, someone is trying to catch my attention, someone is acting like a bloody idiot.

If someone calls me what could be seen as rude name-calling, example butch, could it not also equally be a friendly slang nickname?

What I am trying to convey is if we impute bad, then that object, name or whatever has the meaning to my mind as bad.
Bit like saying elite members of the armed forces killed a dozen suspected terrorists on there way to work this morning, and the deceased family members would say describing the same event something like our whole cricket team were murdered by those low life scumbags from Timbuktu.
One view imputed good while the other imputed anger, unhappiness etc.
