What would happen in parliament if questions had to be answered honestly and without all the trimmings and sideways steps. Would more people be interested in what the pollies had to say

Welcome to the forums, Happyman. I think they would, for sure, I know I would be.
Mind you I think we would all be interested as well if we saw pigs flying!

Hi ah Happymannwave

Welcome to the forums.. cswelcome

If questions had to be answered honestly ... then the pollies would lose their skills of evasion... and we might not like the truth...but it would certainly be interesting...

Like listening to Catter.. he calls it as he sees it... I dont think he actually knows how to speak the pollie speak... and he is really unpopular???

dunno

That is the very reason why our politicians won't have a bar of or create "Bill of Rights Legislation"
If a Bill of Rights came into being half the politicians would jump out the windows within a week or so.

Try this example
New Zealand Bill of Rights Act
The New Zealand Bill of Rights Act places limits on the actions of those in government (including government departments, the judiciary, state-owned enterprises and local authorities) that interfere with the rights of individuals. The Bill of Rights Act also protects the rights of non-natural persons, for example, companies and incorporated societies.

"that interfere with the rights of individuals"!
Everyone with a right to appeal any decision that any member of government made that interfered in the rights of an individual. And once filed in accordance with the Rules Governing the Filling on Appeal in any court, the Court cannot sit without giving motion to the Appeal...
I rest my case
thank you Merri

There are very few rights if any expressed in the Australian Constitution, an implied right to vote, right to draw water for livestock & domestic use and that's about all.
Enter New Zealand's Bill of Rights Act (which forms the bases of there un-written constitution) Rights that are expressed in the Bill of Rights Act 1990...follow this link

The Bill of Rights Act

What does the Bill of Rights Act cover?
Who do I talk to if the Government has interfered with my rights under the Bill of Rights Act?

Dishonesty is endemic in every aspect of western economic and other aspects of society.
An example:
The defeat of S.E.A.T.O efforts supposedly directed towards containing communism before it spreads here, defeat of those efforts in South Vietnam occurred on the 1st day of February 1968 when the Tet Offensive broke the political will to stop over a 100 year effort to establish Catholic teachings in mainland Asia in a country called Vietnam.
On the 1st day of February 1968 the Viet Cong demonstrated the will of the people right across SVN the Viet Cong contrary to popular belief stirred by the lies Westmoreland, lots of International media, Australian and New Zealand governments, contrary to what they promoted the VC even occupied the supposedly well fortified American Embassy in Saigon.
This link goes to picture-took i took of the American Embassy Saigon 1967. The building walls were covered with a blast proof design, and the building was surrounded by a substantial guarded concrete wall.
The Viet Cong blasted a hole through the concrete wall and took and occupied the American Embassy for about two days before they were all killed by marines that had then landed on the roof and worked there way down floor by floor until the building was retaken.

And the lies continued for over six years while governments tried to cover up or make small the extent of the defeat and so Aussie's and Kiwi's continued to die in South Vietnam.

Now wouldn't that be refreshing bouquet

I would settle for them talking more about what they plan to do better than just putting the other side down. That gets a bit boring I reacon. It's very easy to ctritise someone but it takes a bit more thought to come up with a new idea to improve on.
