Where do you think I have been bad mannered, or stuck up in my interaction with you?
It looks like a very weak argument to try and transpose your own poor behaviour onto others for no apparent reason, as does deflecting from the point by saying this is a gossip site.
A dating site is a tool, and whilst different sites, or different times on sites brings with it different atmospheres, its up to you to use the tool how you wish it to be. If you don't like gossip, don't involve yourself with any.
It strikes me, the people who don't have rigid expectations and have fun on here are the ones most likely to have a positive experience, including meeting someone special.

And that friendship is for him the starting point, the pond to catch his fish from.
But he does not state any interest in fishing, filling the pond yes.

Like I said, I may have misrepresented his post, but its that ambiguity of communication which might put women off from developing a friendship with him.
The emotional intimacy we develop with friends, is different from the emotional intimacy we develop with a potential lover. I can't imagine doing the latter with more than one person at a time. It seems extraordinarily unfair.
