The time is not ripe yet,JMO,as the older Brit generation still care a lot about the monarchy.Siting in front of a tv the older generation, exclaims in public royal functions," Aren't they lovely".

Some others posters,in due course, will compare the cost of keeping the Royals,is minimal, to the gains the British economy gets keeping them.cheers

We could knock down all the castles and stately homes too, perhaps build blocks of ugly grey flats in their place.. The druggies, glue sniffers and pregnant teenagers need somewhere to live..Oh they must have kennels attached for their Staffies as well. Joking of course, i can think of better places to start modernising the UK.

I think some remain good ambassadors for this country but that's about it now. In the meantime, I am hopeful that a bypass over Charlie Boy to William being the next king would be a good move. I believe he has the ability and the ethos to bring the monarchy into the 21st century more than most. Most of the others are hangers-on, to be frank, and some are just embarrassing.....

cheers

Im an expat, and yes I moan about the immigrants, because I dont like seeing my family and friends suffering because of them..

and some of us expats, have our own houses and work, here in Spain I could not get any benefits even if I wanted it, there's a difference between someone leeching from a country and supporting themselves..

I vote to keep them! They are a great drawcard for tourism and very good for the british ecomony. And whether you ike them or not, they DO do good work for charities and make a difference.

thumbs up

British are famous for the monarchy, think about the interest they generate in other countries. Women emulate duchess's dresses, etc. It is like a tourist attraction. There aren't that many in Britain, are there? laugh
