I chose Alta. rather than B.C. because it is a bit closer for people from the Eastern provinces than B.C. is.

I did the trip to Alberta years ago and it's a very long trip...over 3,000 km from where I am. I hope you guys can set something up and have fun but I doubt I'll be able to make the trip.

Just a few mere hours on a plane....a movie...a refreshing beverage or two....and poof....you are here....in the land of the redneck, truck-driving, oil-drilling, horse-riding, ultra, ultra-rich, cowboy gentleman, woman-appreciating dudes! What's a few thousand kilometres? Huh?

Damn, it's cheaper to fly to Florida than it is to Alberta...can't believe how much it costs.
Glengirl: I'm not sure about that, but I do know that flights are cheaper from here to there, than from there to here
Your country is just too damn big!!!
Canada is huge...I look at a map of North America and I could go to the southern tip of Florida twice over compared to the distance from where I am to Edmonton, Alberta. I did the drive by car to Alberta and that trip took days most of which was looking at prairies.
2intrigued: It's criminal how much it is to travel within one's own country...doesn't make sense at all. I need more than a ride though...I gave up all my camping gear years ago cuz I got tired of camping.
2intrigued: I read somewhere in here about camping...in amongst the numerous threads about a meeting and the tumbleweed.
LOL! Okay....no 5-Star stuff it seems...oh well.....it won't be the first time I have "communed" with the earth....and the tumbleweeds....and the grizzly! LOL!
I looked at the poll breakdown and isn't it interesting that the majority of women chose BC and the men chose Alta.
Of course I will chose BC but it you move the date from June to July I will consider Alberta> (I get the summers off so would have more time to get there. :)

Kiddy01: I have to vote alberta, and Edmonton as that is where I live.
Hey Guys this is exactly what we need. More folks posting their ideas as to where we could have a meet and what kind of meet to have. There are lots of different things we could do for a meet but we need input from people so we can go with something that the majority would like to do.
I think in Canada, one merely tells another 'hey I'm coming' and either you're home or you wait them out! lol
Frankly I think its best to pick a venue, set a date, and don't stress to much about it ..... and if you plan to come to Canada, make it work around what YOU want to do, and who you want to visit.

OK so I am picking a venue since nobody has really suggested anything.
I'm not really a big fan of rodeos but it's in my home town and I might be able to get some free tickets. There are accommodations listed when you look through out the site and I am willing to plan a couple of other things as well for those that might want to go fishing or swimming etc.
