inquiries as to how my grandbaby is doing. He is still in Neo Natal ICU at this time. He should have been released yesterday. But they say they are keeping him a few more days, until he is breathing on his own, without oxygen. He had tested positive for jaundice, 9.8, 15 being where they treat them agressively. But this is something fairly common. He still has liquid in his lungs, and is conjestive and has trouble breathing. And he also breathes way to fast when on his own. Should be around 80, but he breathes at about 100 to 105.
He has been breast feeding now and at first he was only eating every 4 hours about 45 minutes at a time. Now he is coming in every two hours and only eats about 10 minutes. Kinda curious about that.
The hospital is being good to them. Mom has been discharged today, but the hospital is letting them stay in the same room, to be near Pierce until he is well enough to be released. I hope soon. I pray soon, and healthy.
I am so proud of my son, he has not gone home or left the hospital since she went in to have their son. He caters to her every need and keeps her comfortable. He holds his son and changes his diapers, and he is reading to him as well. I am an advocate for reading to babies as a soon as they are born. Seemed to work well for my kids. I went out and bought them about 200. dollars worth of books.
Still can't tell what color his eyes are. They look darkish and then they look kinda grey, then blue. Sounds like hazel to me. His grandpa had very hazel eyes.
Well, that is what I have for now. Keep praying or sending out whatever kinda love you believe in. We will take anything.
Thank you all for your concern and well wishes.

As long as baby is happy 10 minute is probably sufficient for him....my daughter would take forever, lol almost felt like a monkey at times...my second one 10 mins was enough!

And glad baby Pierce and family is doing better!

Good luck and keep growing little fella!

Oh and forgot! It's great you share your love for reading! I do too! I often even lent my kids books to my friends kids....I use to make it a monthly thing of at least bying one book...even if it came from the Dollarama..

Now my daughter never had the attention when she was younger to sit through a story, but my son, sometimes I have to take a pile of books out from under him once he's fallen asleep...lol

Thank you ladies. For the re enfrcement of his eating habits. It just seemed that he slowed way down. And she is filling up to gorging. It is making her very uncomfortable and sore. She felt because he had slowed down. He is not out of the woods yet. I hope this passes soon. It makes me worry about them taking him home. You know, whether he will breathe on his own and be safe. I know, I know, I worry too much. Thanks again.
By the way. He is so beautiful.

I will pray that your grandbaby comes home soon. Don't worry about the amount of time on the feeding. My great-niece had suffered from malnutrition, yet her mother was breast feeding quite often and for long period, the baby was hungry all the time. The doctors said what happened was the baby wasn't able to suck hard enough to get the breast milk. So if your grandson is feeling full in 10 minutes he is probably get enough and with round the clock care, the doctors are making sure of his vitals.

That is true! adding all the extra care!

His world surrounding him right now is making sure he will make it through each new day. He has all your love and support and everything he could need at this moment.

Someone wrote to me in a Wish card when I had my first born that

"to decide to have a child is to have your heart walking outside your body"(now she said it in french and I heard it in English somewhere before, so I hope this sounds pretty close). So Pierce has his mom and all her being, his dad, you grandma Kat, and the world working his wonders right now....all that for his little soul.

I keep you in my prayers and thought!

Please keep up posted!

You ladies are so awesome. I listen to, and appreciate all your well wishes and caring thoughts. And all the good information.
I just talked to my son, and he said that Pierce's jaundice count went up, and they are strengthening the type of light on him. They found a large chunk of stuff in his passages, and got it out of him. My son says that he sounds better this morning.
I talked to him about the manner of her breast feeding, and he said she was doing it right. I also breast fed, and tried to help her to understand how it was done. But, they have help from people there that give special attention to the moms. I think that is great.
Bless my sons heart. He hasn't been leaving more than a two mile radious from the hospital. He sounded a little sad that he has to go home today and get his work clothes together for work tomorrow. He will return, no doubt to stay with them in the hospital tonight. I bet it is going to be hard for him to concentrate on work. This baby has his heart and soul, lock stock and barrel. He is a very proud dad. And this is one very proud mom-grandma.
