That sounds like a lovely morning Newlife. I will be going in the march in my town as part of our school group. Sadly our march is mostly made up of school kids these days as there are only a few diggers and returned soldiers left here. But still a great morning with a big crowd to cheer them on. Also its great to see the young ones remembering what those brave men did for them. I love the tradition and the way it brings out everyone in the community to spend a few hours together, remembering the sacrifices and celebrating our freedom. australia

I am planning to do what they would have done! On any day off that they would have got, have a beer and remember those that have gone before us, its not a celebration it’s a time to remember the loss and the great courage displayed for years of our service men and women!

We need to remember and not forget, that this is a memorial not a celebration?

Lest we forget!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest We Forget.

there is still hope someone honest will turn up and do the right thing by all the younger vets damaged in iraq and afghanistan, someone who might not hid the extent of casualties and wont manufacturer vc recipients to rub shoulders with, just maybe someone like

MINING magnate Clive Palmer has taken to ABC program Lateline to announce he is forming a political party which will field candidates in 127 House or Representatives seats as well as the Senate at this year's federal election.

Mr Palmer, who will stand as a candidate himself, told Lateline Australia needs a new party "to unite all Australians in a time of crisis to work together".

I am a member of the Victorian Military Vehicles Corp and most members provide vehicles to transport veterans who have difficulties in making the longish March on ANZAC Day. A fair few members provide transport at the Melbourne March but many more attend local RSL Marches.

This year, I went to the Berwick (Vic) RSL March with 3 other vehicles. 2 WW2 Jeeps, a Land Rover and a Hummer. The 4 vehicles we had reflected from WW2 to present day and a lot of the veterans expressed their memories of these vehicles.

People do have to realise that ANZAC Day is not a celebration but more that it is about REMEMBERANCE of the futility of conflict when peaceful outcomes can be achieved.

The only thing that anyone really won at Gallipoli was that Turkey was no longer part of the Ottoman Empire after the event.

Perhaps my choice of words "celebrate our freedom" was insensitive. I certainly did't mean to imply that we should be cheering and dancing in the streets, but more expressing our gratitude to those who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy our freedom and a community spirit on Anzac day.

No matter how pointless a war seems afterwards, at the time, it is fought by those defending our country, or another. Many lose their lives fighting for what they believe is right.

They all deserve respect.

None should ever be forgotten sad flower

None should be forgotten for what they were truly believed was the best for what they beleived in.

It is unfortunate that the retoric we received at the time may not have been was the best for our country.

And this does also apply to many countries at the present time.

Their are 3 truths to every argument (conflict). Your's, mine and the actual benfit of the most interested parties.
