I have my blocking settings set pretty high .... I don't think anyone wants endless amounts of mail that is of no use to them ...
If you find you are blocked then obviously you are not the one the person is looking for so be happy you are not wasting your time ...
just keep on searching .... No one said this meeting stuff is easy ...
And I too use the block feature if I get unwanted mail from people .. its nothing personal .. its just the way it is ... so smile and keep on looking .................................................

Dolphin, some of the "blocking" is about the criteria they have said about what they are seeking.
A good example is that someone from Mars (just trying not to single any distance/children/age/blondes/nationality out here but do not believe they have hit CS.... yet) may list "being from Mars" as 1 criteria.
Had that problem due to my criteria settings but did open up a bit when I did find out about it. And did then end up having some good conversations after I realised it.

Never realised there were blocking settings, have just edited mine. I guess you're talking about someone blocking YOU PERSONALLY from contacting them? That would seem a bit petty.
I have my settings rather high too, I do not see anything wrong with it. It's a personal preference.

I block peops all the time Obs ... especially on the fish site ... I figure why clutter up the dashboard when there is no interest ...
OR those that just pounce on you every time you log in ....
OR worse ... those that cannot accept NO is an answer, not an opportunity .....

There are other reasonable "free" dating sites that are okay. I have a number of friend that I met here, and have moved to others. They actually find people suited to them elsewhere as well as here.....
shock and horror.... this is not the only site that seems to work.....
Blocking - why would you get blocked unless the person blocking didn't want to be in contact with you. If that is the case, take it like an adult and move on.
There must be reasons for the blocking. It's that simple....

What Fish site? People talking about other sites all the time. Only other one I know about is Oasis. (free sites that is.)

Plenty Of Fish is a site that's free for some of it , here's a NZ selection .Never had a case of women pouncing on me or not taking no for an answer! Unfortunately.

I don't quiet know what you mean like I have blocked the world out except Australia and NZ mainly due to scammers , if any O/S forum users want to chat with me they can on the forums it's as simple as that. I get mail from around Australia and if I don't wish to chat with them I don't that is my choice. I would only block someone if they were annoying me when I don't wish to chat and to me the blocking is there for that reason. Who wants to be cyber stalked

Thanks for explaining what POF means Epirb..... gawd I'm slow to catch on sometimes. I'll check some of them out.

Just suck it up. You aren't going to be everyone's cup of tea and there is no point pretending you can be. Better to spend your energy trying to find someone who does want you instead of worrying about those who don't.
It isn't unfair either, maybe if you were on the receiving end of some of the harassing people out there you will understand why the blocking feature is there. There is also a reporting feature so if you harass people who dont want you contacting them then you may find yourself booted off the site and your profile closed down.
