snagsmoore: I am struggling with the concept that someone would hack themselves up just in case they may get cancer. I can understand if someone did actually get it, but just in case?? I know she had an 87% chance of getting it which is very high but she also had a 13% chance that she wouldn't. Also after the procedure, she will still have a 5% chance of getting it so what is she going to do in case the mastectomy doesn't work? She is also considering having her ovaries removed because she also has a 50% chance of getting ovarian cancer.
I just feel it is a defeatist attitude that you are going to get something and all these procedures come with their own risks also. Why sacrifice quality of life just in case of anything? Stay inside wrapped up in cotton wool in case you get run over by a bus.

Obviously she is a roo or two short in the top paddock ....
I'd be just having regular tests to be on top in case something did develop ...
Still if she sleeps better at night from doing all this ....

Sounds to me like a woman under a panic siege. Im a thrill seeker, I like the game of odds so I would wait to see what happens before exploring my options.
Well she always was a bit strange.....remember she used to carry a vile of blood of her first husband around her neck.
