Yes, but so is my safety. I have been held up at work at knifepoint twice , almost 3 times in the last 10 months and if it wasn't for the security cameras at my work, it could have been a lot worse and the perps are now in jail. As much as I hated seeing myself, and everyone else seeing my every move, I am glad they were there.
I used to work security berfore there were security guards. Back when it was all visual survalance. Anyway, when you look up at the ceiling in any store, you will see cylindrical, black plactic bubbles that contain curvelliance cameras. This is, obviously, done as a deterence to shoplifting. What i found at the Target that i worked at, was that , of the 73 cameras at the store, only 53 camera angles were available. So, do the math. Visual survelliance,while meant to, and in MOST cases, does deter crime, is meant to get in the head of the potential shoplifter, it gives the stores a false sense of seccurity. It really is nothing more than all sound and fury amounting to absoleutely nothing.
