I have to admit wash that when I was a smoker there was always another group away from the main group outside having a smoke ... something I don't do these days so a whole other conversation is missed out on ....

and I do know of a couple of people who only have a smoke when they have a drink when out ... so social smoker would be relevant to them ... I would say ... drinking

When you really get down to it, cigarettes are approaching $1 each with all the taxes added on. Be okay if they would buy you a drink every now and then.

When I was a worker (just rubbing it in), one of the guys was one of the "Today I smoke, when the packet is finished, I stop." and he did. And then maybe after a few months, he would bludge one off me. Only when he was really stressed. For the last 2 years, he would come up to me and say "Time for a smoke?" For me, not him. He just needed that time-out bit where we could both sound off about work. Worked for him mainly.

He is going through a bad trot with his father being ill overseas and much pressure at work with all the changes. And he has not had a smoke during these hard times.

PrOwLeR_: Not every smoker dies from a smoking related illness so saying its bad for your health is a massive generalisation ... Yes indeedy 'some' smokers surely will die from smoking related illnesses ... but not all

Smoking is nothing like self mutilation, so again another over the top generalisation, smoking is a habit more than it is an addiction, though it is legal in every state of Oz to do so ... Not sure on the self mutilation aspect though ...

The Booze does more damage to a person than a ciggy here or there will do to you ...

and No I am a not a smoker .... As you know crossing the road can be just as toxic on your health ... P.S.

Nice to see you back and I am glad the incident at bunnings was not any worse ... ...................................

LOL Thx Prowler yeah could have been worse thats for sure. And I agree not every smoker dies from related diseases perhaps I should have compared it to playing russian roulette !!!Both are stupid .Theres a chance youll die doing it.But if you do it long enough the oddsa are not in your favor,

Its all very well proposing we no what we are doing and others doing different are wrong while I'm of course all knowing and right laugh scold and yes i still smoke and will continue, mostly because its far too dangerous to quit and any way damage is done already.
Its not that i haven't looked just i prefer to take advice from qualified sources not wonnabe's. This is the sort of information i have considered for a long time, so before you jump in with the usual you know what your on about please don't bother

We know that our present situation—where we are now—is dependent on karmic causation, and in our everyday life we are
constantly dealing with cause and effect. At the moment we have enough good fortune not to have been born in one of the three
lower realms. We have certain powers and abilities of mind, a certain strength of intellect and a certain freedom of movement.
Everything we are able to engage in comes from the mind; this is karma as well. However, even though we now have the human
freedom to move about as we like, to avoid unpleasant situations, and to pursue our desires and so forth, no matter where we go
we end up with miserable disappointment. It does not matter where we go; unexpectedly we end up with problems. All of us
experience this. We are always experiencing dissatisfaction and confusion, not to mention sickness, old age, death and other
worries.

Jeeze Rob Is this seriously your take on Karma & our earthy time????? Im sorry but I have to beg to differ This life is not a punishment dished out to us as some sort of retribution, sure each life will have challenges but its how we deal with those that determines our fate, We have choices and the ones we take will reflect on this life and the next!If what you are saying is true most of humanity would just lay down and die and hope it gets better next round!I believe we fall where we are supposed to land ,its how we get up from that fall is what will impact the outcome.
I tend to come up with faith hope & seeking silverlinings. If One believes truely that all things happen for a reason and are a guide to where to from here then there is no confusion nor disatifaction with any event .
