Well with all the extra cows we are going to have due to the export thing, maybe cows will look cute running around with ford badges on their butts professor

Feel sorry for workers, families and all other smaller manufacturing companies involved.

I think with ever increasing fuel prices, the 6cyl and V8 has had its day ... There are so many turbocharged 4cyls these days that can put out incredible brake horse power in an ever so fuel efficient way ..

Been thinking to put the commodore wagon out to pasture for a while now and grab a 4cyl jap version ...

And therein lies the problem with the Australian economy ..

I mean we're all urged to buy Australian but what does the 'average' income earner do (and I mean average, not the ones on $100k+ like the media portrays roll eyes ) when it comes to making these decisions dunno

What are the Australians going to do when all the mines run out and everything we buy and use is made in China or India because their costs are lower/

The writing was on the wall thirty years ago, if we had any insight we would have taken notice of what happened in both the British and American automobile manufacturing plants. It comes down to one point, Quality of build. You can't blame discerning buyers for avoiding locally produced inferior products and scourcing either European or Japanese/South East Asian.

the sad thing is it is not just the workers from Ford, but also the ancillary suppliers of parts that are manufacturers in Australia.
Some of the companies might be able to adapt and maybe retool for another product/s, others wont

There will be a lot more that just the 1200 Ford jobs lost.

RIP an Aussie legend
