Hey curly wave

It's an admin/customer service role with a low-cost housing provider (ngo) conversing

I've been working towards exiting the retail industry over the past few years, currently ¾ of the way through a Diploma in Business Management, completed the Cert III a couple of years back plus have done the usual MS Office courses and MYOB.

Selling lost its appeal for me quite some time ago, it's all about price these days, so the challenge has gone out of it for the most part.

Plus its an empty, unsatisfying occupation confused

Its basically just contributing to consumerism when I would like to do something more meaningful and rewarding thumbs up

Fingers crossed for you serene hope you score the job there's nothing worse than being unhappy in the workplace.

Even though I am semi retired now I still work outdoors in the gardens one or two days a week after all these years in the same trade I still whistle my way through my day at work I always come home with the feeling of achievement and knowing I've made someone happy.

It's very important for everyone to be happy in their work place if this job application falls through don't give up keep on trying for a better and happier job very happy daisy

I have had my own retail business and do realise that customer service is very important or you go under.

I have been in Local Govt for a lot of years and my role has been to provide a service to our customers (the i-ratepayers). No, I was not a "call-girl" on the switchboard.

Main focus was on road safety trying to make our roads and the roadside safer for all users - drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

But it is very hard to provide any more than lip-service when management does not give you any money to make it better for anyone. But you do have to come up with answers why nothing is being done.

People do get sick of hearing that "budget restraints in the current budget means that we cannot do these works during the current financial year. Funding is being sort in the next Capital Wokrs Budget to undertake these neccessary works. However, this worth projject will be competing against the many, many other worthwhile projects seeking funding in the Budget." If you ever get a reply like this, it means Buckleys of getting funding.

As probably a few realise from their own experiences, it is not always possibly to meet all of the demands of all the people out there.

Do wish you luck with your change, Serene, and hope it works for you.
