Yes, temporarily anyway, but it would be at a higher cost to the consumer than what you're used to. There is a huge supply, but it isn't cheap to get it out of the ground, like it is from the middle East, or just piping it from Canada.
The biggest concern id poor fracing practices, contaminating ground water and endagering people's safety. It's a gamble to oil companies, profits vs. what they can get away with, and they let very little stand in the way of profits.
What's worse than anything is, oil companies have a lot of influence in government in the US, and likely the same in Alberta, so they get away with a lot more then they should.
