Two people same profession same work ethic.

Do you think a visible tattoo would make you view the bearer of a tattoo as being less qualified, less professional and less knowledgeable than a person without a tattoo?

A recent directive from the high office were I work has stated all persons with a visible tattoo must from the 1 August cover up. Those that cannot be covered with long sleeves or trousers must be covered by “flesh coloured plasters”.

I don’t want to get into a discussion about human rights I would just be interested to know if a tattoo would influence you one way or another about a person’s ability to do their job.

It depends. Someone with poorly designed tattoos who was a designer in some way, might lack conviction.

If the tattoos bore no relation to their job skills, then no.

If they are home made prison style tattoos then I think some people may judge the bearer regardless of his/her skills, I don't understand why people would want visible tats on hands, neck or face, it's ok when you live with the tribe in the jungle, but looks out of place in the city,

Tats are something that an individual
chooses and I often wonder if they think
ahead before getting them.
What happens the skin as the body gets
older? well its going to sag no matter who
you are.
What was once perhaps a nice picture will have
turned into what might look worse than the
dogs dinner.
Still each to their own.
They were indeed something that the Airforce had
on the upper arm, not so much the army.
Still someone is making a living out of doing it,
so hey ho.

The problem with tattoos is that they are a fashion thing. In the UK they were out of fashion for about 30 years. At some point they will be out of fashion again.

As for employers forcing people to cover up, especially with plasters, I suspect that may become a 'Human Rights' issue for existing staff. Not employing new people with visible tats though, might be perfectly acceptable in law.
