50 really hit me hard. Got me to thinking "My God, where did the time go"? And if 50 came up on me all of the sudden, how quickly will 70 or 80 creep up on me? Then I got to thinking will I even live that long?

50 hit me hard too if I'm honest, but I had an amazing birthday party with people of all ages and I realised it wasn't so bad after all. I spent the years from 40 onwards travelling and working in several countries and that, along with my job, keeps me young at heart and in spirit.
If one chooses to become a couch potato and be stuck in a rut then old Mister Time will certainly sneak up on you.

It depends on how fit and healthy you are and not just the number. There are people in their 20s who look like they are in their 40's and vice versa. I think you can consider yourself old when you loose your independent mobility.
