Getting into Debt. (11)

It's not a huge amount but I hate being in debt - at the moment I've a credit union loan against my balance, so technically not a debt but I'm taking the kids on holiday to visit family and need some cash for treats.
So, I can borrow some more off the credit union or I have a cnc router at my brother's that's worth a couple of hundred sterling(even though I'd like to have it to use in the future).
So should I flog the router and stay out of debt or borrow the cash and just pay it back monthly?
Which way would you go?

id borrow the cash at least you know you can sell the router at a later date should loans get more difficult to get.

If you can borrow do as long as you are comfortable with the repayments after you come back.
I have a few debts and slowly paying them back, have money in credit union I can't touchcrying

sally101: It's a bit rural around here. I'd break a heel just trying to get to the nearest street corner.

do they have corners in the back of beyond or a red light tongue

It sounds like you can't really afford that holiday right now.

Slighty off topic but....things haven t changed around here since last year rolling on the floor laughing

Back on topic....op should avoid getting into a spiral of debt ...hard to get out of .....do the sums and see if you can afford repayments on top-up ....factor in future water charges and household charges rising....work prospects...if its just a couple of hundred should nt be too bad ....in the future try and pay off a wee bit more of your borrowings....that would reduce interest payments as it is normally calculated on reducing balance in c.u.

Probably true. But I'm doing it as cheap and cheerful as possible - even got a day's work lined up in Eastbourne with Staedlar, which will cover my petrol costs driving to Brighton (and staying with my brother). Then a friend got me free tickets to a theme park for the day. I have the ferry paid for - wasn't as bad as I thought - less than 300 for me, kids and car.
It is just a bit of spending money I'm short. I got rid of my credit card this year, hated the monthly bill - so credit union only real option.

Right you are. It wasn't clear that your plans were so far along. Have a good time and maybe something else will turn up to lighten you burden.
