anniebaby: I happened to be listening to the radio today and it was saying since the hot weather started there has been 11 deaths in the water.
Seems that number is about to go up with a body found in Malin head this evening and a girl in another part of Inishowen.
When I was younger it was drummed into me that you can drowned in 6inches of water and to be careful at the beach and not get out of your depth.

Young people do not seem to realise the danger, especially young men swimming with alcohol taken, we lost 2 young men from the one estate, the last two summers through swimming at night after drinking, both good young fella's.

motorists being warned on a motor way ffs to watch out for kids running across it
We just cannot handle the heat like we can't handle the snow
But my heart goes out to all the families and friends of people drowned recently...very sad
If I want to swim I'll go to a pool. I might cool myself off in the sea etc. but not swim out.

..where do you do your snorkelling? i might try it where you recommend.i havent yet but a recommendation is always a good idea.

no sometimes my ring gets in the way so I leave it behind me but when I ever go swimming in a lake or river I make sure to bring it with me..you see inflatable rings are fun..no point swimming out into the middle of a lake if you have no ring with you..I can also rest on my ring and if hypothermia sets in I wont drown..inflatable rings are great fun
