my ex got a bad bout of it bout 5 years ago..just above his ear..bout half a fist size.. the doc gave him some topical lotion which he was to rub in.. it did actually grow back..i never understood tho..cos isnt it emotional shock to the system that creates it, thats what i was always led to believe... and it takes time to get to grips with a berevement or a marriage breakup..or whatever has caused it.
perhaps a bit of care to both..the spot where it is missing on the head and in the heart is the best medicine.

try 2 used tea bags..a banana skin and some vaseline..works a treat

Yeah its stress, recent death in the family but when I researched it it said no known cure and that the immume system is attacking itself

well try the docs..perhaps the topical lotion given was a placebo..perhaps it did work..perhaps cos it was recognised before it all fell out the damage hadnt gone too far..? who knows.
bereavement counselling is a very very positive step tho for this person..their body is telling them they arent coping.

Not much idea meself and I'm sure you'll get good advice through PMs. I was going to suggest a good ride to relieve the stress.... I'd even skip the hair pulling....

Happened me years ago when I lived in Boston..didn't think I was stressed, but thats what doc said. Gave me a steroid cream and it grew back pretty quick thankfully...was a small patch on top of my head..looked a little like Alphalpha for a while though
