Just a thought that goes through this old brain now and again.....

If anyone of us had the misfortune to have an accident or fall off their perch, or anything that had them laid up...

None of us would know or be contacted, even to give help or advice, like we always do in this group of ours,

we have always been "ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE"

Your thoughts on this.... jmo....

This question often crosses my mind since I live alone. What if? What if I’m changing a light bulb, fall of a ladder hurt myself enough not be able to reach the phone or call for help. What if I was to chock on food? What if etc..etc..? Sure I have friends and family and work that would ring if I wasnt seen in a day or two but they would also respect my privacy for a week or two. cheers

It's a sad fact of our modern society AA. I have had that thought too especially when away from work for two week holiday. My kids live 300 km's away and friends respect my privacy and it's not uncommon for me not to be in contact with others for days. My choice.

I suppose it's no different for many people......we can only hope we could get to the phone if we needed help.

It's awful when you hear on the news about elderly that have passed away and not been discovered for a very long time. sad flower

Lucky I don’t have a dog!!! I heard a story where this old fella had a stroke and the dog saved his life by dipping an old dish cloth in the dunny and putting it in his mouth. laugh

i dunno, think when its actual time to die i'm left alone in my meditation and not disturbed by others.
I understand lot of people don't study death and dying but i have made some study on the subject, though probably not as much as i should, i've spent month or so practicing death an extent didn't know whether dead or alive for a bit. Then at that time, soon after was heading to the bank in town and watched a lady look the wrong way while she was crossing the road just as traffic lights turned green and young fella berried his boot and ran the lady over right in front me.

I sat with her as she died, police turned up looked at me and directed traffic, ambulance turned up, lady asked me a question, i answered, she asked again ambulance guy gave her the same answer, she asked me another question then peacefully died

Dying is natural, you've done it countless times before, is a bit like snake shedding its skin, one ting is certain, birth leads to death just bound up in time

I live alone too and I guess if I didnt turn up for work and hadnt rung there would be some concern at work because it would be out of character.
Dunno whether someone would come and check though.

My Mum likes to be in contact each day, and if I havent rung her, or she me, I now get a txt asking if I am ok. (oh the joys of teaching your mum to txt!laugh )

So I guess if I didnt respond to both phone and txt Mum would get the police to check on me ... so I guess they might find me before I start to moulder!

I dont have to worry about the dog bringing me a wet cloth from the loo, one she couldnt reach in the bowl! and two when I fainted and was unconscious for at least 30 mins she sat on the bed and watched over me...
Didnt come and lick my face or anything, just watched!

After being sent to a cardiologist due to my BP being 180 over 110 . And being told yes you have the old problem back with thickening of the ventricle walls !!
And I think your kidneys are no good, have tests kidneys are good but you have cushings and tumors .
Two months on another specialist and no you don't you are fine !!!

I'm really suspicious of doctors now . GP was all concerned for me when I went with the virus I had the other week . Second specialist hadn't contacted my gp who was still under the impression I had cushings !! Which the cardiologist had found !!

So yeah who does one talk to confused

I don't live on my own - got 2 young adults who are here ..... somteimes, sometimes not. And even when they are here they are usually engrossed in some kind of screen, laptop, PC, mobile phone, whatever, that I am sure if I electrocuted myself in the bathroom it could be hours before either of them would notice I had not cooked dinner! laugh sigh

Not something I think about too much. Seniors who live alone can get a 'Vitalcall' thing that hangs around their neck and they push the button for help if they fall or whatever, it is linked to medicos - but the rest of us have to fend for ourselves?? help help help

You live with two adults who still need you to cook their dinner! Can we assume that are toilet trained or do you still wipe their bums?
