The relationship can't succeed without your happiness, in the end it would fail.

Often with compromises, neither party get what they want,so they could be dis-satisfied.

If I compromise to satisfy my partner, then I am still satisfied BECAUSE he is satisfied.

My mission is I aim to please.heart wings

My thoughts are that a state of happiness comes from a combination of things - the love of your family and friends, a satisfying job, a lifestyle that you enjoy etc ...

So no, I wouldn't compromise ALL of those things for a relationship but I would be flexible and meet someone halfway where possible wine

Why would anyone ask you to compromise your happiness for a relationship? confused Take a person as they are or forget about it. dunno

Compromises as in looking out for someone and being considerate shouldn't be a sacrifice and have to be done by 2 people, anything else never came up for me in the past. wine

If 1 side just wants everything their way, then it's time to walk away.

Surely the art of compromise is to come to an arrangement that both are happy with?

It might take a little creativity and imagination, but if one person is not happy with a solution, its not a case of mutual concession.

In response to: Would you compromise your happiness for the success of the relationship?

When I say I don't mind compromising to make someone happy, I don't mean I would give up my happiness, I mean it make me happy to "compromise", meet halfway, and at times, maybe a little more, if it's something not so important to me. I enjoy pleasing people so that's what brings me happiness.

Exactly, but the OP is a tad misleading as the word compromise is used in the negative sense, i.e to weaken, impair or prejudice. So, I would say compromise by all means by mutual concessions if possible, but don't let demands or claims, which may seem unimportant at the time, compromise one's happiness or health as it usually leads to resentment.

no, then there is no point in it, reason why we have a relationship is to share and happiness is amongst others

Obstinance_Works: Yes, of course you should. Grown up relationships are filled with times where you're not always going to be happy and sometimes the other person getting their own way means that you don't get yours(and vice-versa).

Thousands thousands have relationships where their happiness is compromised, especially women of alcaics cultures, but in other hand the relationships are made of ups and downs, there is a point when the parts should not give up their commitments because they are not happy at the time.
