It'll be great if it does end up that bright. Though it's often hard to predict how bright or spectacular a comet will be when it finally arrives.

Well some have drawn parallels between this and earlier comets that "brought" death and destruction with them, eg black death came just after a comet.

Look at it this way. While there are people out there predicting the end of the world the world is safe, WORRY when they stop predicting. well I hope to see both comet and the end of 2013 , new bird flu strain jumping people to people might be a bit of a bummer come winter 2014 . Isolated houses might be all the fashion soon .

Yes every time comet has hit in our history some form of plague seemed to follow.
