Do you think it's a bad idea for married people to go out for nights on the town, night clubbing or to social gatherings with their single friends? Is this a recipe for disaster for the married couple?

Can be... depends on why you are going... if its a night out with the girls very occasionally , then what is the harm, but to constantly do it... I be guessing there is something amiss..??

I agree! It`s ok if you do it occasionally, to rarely. But anything more than that. I would see that Idea have alot more tilt to the heading for disaster in time.

Nothing wrong with a bit of independence - actually good for your relationship. However, if you go out with your single pals only because you need to get away from your partner or feel you have much more fun with others than her/him....then there is a problem with your relationship that should be addressed.

If you want to be independent, do not get married. Look at me, old but happy and single.

Ah! So marriage for you is the subservience of your individuality? If that's your take on it, then yes, single-dom is the right path for you, personally, to follow!
bungallow55: According to another date site, people over 50 and single say they are happier now.
every person who lives his experience feel liberated and happy at some stage in his life I think., some are happy singles, I am fine & happy aingle but looking faraway to grow old with company .

No, it's not a bad idea. Anybody with someone because they have don't have the opportunity to cheat is kind of missing the point of what fidelity means.
It's a actually a good idea(particularly for the Husband to still go out). Him maintaining his social prowess is the equivalent of her maintaing a slender and supple body. If her indoors turns him into a shut-in then his charisma and personality will lapse and this may very well result in her leaving him. Remember, the greatest liability to any relationship is the woman getting bored.
