Glitch101: Just which side of the fence do you actually fall with regards religion
Your profile says you are Christian or should I say a Mormon [ LDS] yet you make comments against religion.
By the way just as a matter of interest do you drink?
..hi...no I don't drink.....regards religion.....????. that is within a person.....how he feels about his fellow man...the ten commadments...to me makes sence...thus....I have no need ..to go to church.......
BB_snickers: Put your finger in your butt, purse your lips tightly and then blow real hard, that should start something.
Ummm… what is the point of this?
BB_snickers: This is just disenchantment with the lies and fallacies inherent in religion Mike. There is just as much if not more of an inward turn toward spirituality in humanity now as there has ever been, it's just not centered on religious dominance and ownership of a god anymore, much less their dogmatic teachings.
Lies? Would you care to elaborate? And could you also pin point which aspects of “spirituality” are in and of themselves unique from the ancient practices of ancient civilizations such as Samaria or Babylon, or those who came later like the Celts or Wiccans? And how can I “own” a god? I am not familiar with that trick.
BB_snickers: I suppose this proves that at the height of religious dominance in the world, the results will prove that if you kill off enough atheists/presumed witches and anyone not of your faith, you can provide a study that shows only religious people are intelligent ... umm because they're all that were allowed to live. I doubt killing your enemies and the faithless can be construed as intelligent beyond the drive for dominance.
Correlation is not corroboration.
Yes, now you get it. If you kill enough of your opposition, whether by the sword or re-indoctrination, the tables turn. Thus you agree with what I am saying here.
Since when were witches atheists? Those witches tended to be more religious than the idiot zealots opposing them. If you want to prove much evil has been done in the name of God, I could do a much better job than you. Unfortunately evil men behaving badly in the name of any religion only proves those men were evil, and nothing else. If you read the book, and understand what you were reading (not misquoting or taking passages out of context), you would see these were blind guides (Matthew 23:16 & 24) leading many to their eternal destruction.
If you are contending that Newton, Kepler, Galileo, Bacon, Pascal were guilty of murdering people who didn’t believe in them, I would request proof of this allegation.
BB_snickers: And the bible has been proven to be expropriated from previous religions, edited, devoid of proof and falsely attributed to non existent authors, not to mention nauseating, so what's your point? Neither the pig nor the pig's assailant wins in my opinion.
Unfortunately for this point, you would be proven wrong on so many different levels. It would be a pleasure to go head to head with you on any part of scripture that hasn’t been subject to the highest amount of scrutiny and emerged overwhelmingly triumphant. Please, let us see where your knowledge of scripture, its origin, its history, its method of preservation, the testing it has underwent, and the many men, who thinking they would prove the bible false, ended up becoming believers themselves.
“assailant”? what assailant?
BB_snickers: To your point, I no more believe in the theory of evolution than I do in religious ownership of gods; but the universe, or at least earth has chosen to have these specious arguments and both parties with little real knowledge.
We are still teaching “theories” of evolution in our schools that have been proved false for the last 20 years, but try to just set a bible on a teacher’s desk and see what happens.
BB_snickers: Spiritualism at least allows for expanding beyond the scope of blindly accepted knowledge whether its from books or teeth, and into the realm of awareness and wisdom.
There is no place for blindly accepting knowledge in this world, and the bible does not promote such thinking. I like the word spiritualism. But the way you are using it, the word imagination could be substituted for it. You can be in full awareness of a lie, and think yourself wise yet still remain a fool. I try to find my direction from something other than my own likes, tastes, and imagination.
BB_snickers: Frankly I think this better for the species but I'm ok with some hanging on to what they know/accept, especially if it gives them comfort.
We as a species can convince ourselves of almost anything. This is why left to ourselves, the result usually ends… poorly.
BB_snickers: Was the pig flying?
Is this in reference to that Gieco commercial? If so, it’s a good one.
